Have just updated grafix card to GEforce 6600 GT, and now got 1 meg ram. HL2 played ok on my previous 1/2 meg and mx 420 card, now all I get is streaking and what looks like every other triangle missing, it's like everything is made out of string vests.

Have validated files through steam with no problem, have tried various different graphics settings with no change, any ideas anyone?

Bit p*ssed off as I updated the card to get more from HL2. Had a look at some other grafix threads but the problems don't seem the same as mine :frown: :frown:

When you replaced your card, did you remove the other from Window's device manager? What WATT PSU do you have? Is your card overclocked?

i'm assuming by '1 meg' you mean 1gb and by '1/2 meg' you mean 512 mb ?

go to nvidia.com, get the latest drivers but before you install, remove any previous ones and maybe try a program designed for cleaning drivers [Driver Clean 3].

Thanks for help. System is Compaq presario 6000 sweries running an AMD XP processor think it's an 1800. Not overlodked or anything, grafix card is running in a AGP 4x slot. It has 1 gig ram (sorry going back to my Amiga days) and a 80gig hard drive. Curenetly i am running the standard 220w psu until I can get a splitter lead to power the processor fan, when i'll fit a Jeantech 300w psu taht i have already bought. I have a secon h/d at 10 gig that isn't powered at the moment.

Far cry and Doom3 seem to run well enough (a big improvement over the last set up). 3D modeling and rendering on some house design software hasa great improvement as well.

In case this helps, it is only the things that move (weapons and sand crabs etc) that have the missing traingles.
