Crash to desktop

PLZ...PPL, i need help, ever since steam was updated (with the new look and stuff), I cant play HL2, CS:S and all my mods anymore, they just crash to the desktop.

I thought about reinstalling, but maybe there is another solution

Thanks beerdude, i knew about dxdiag, but I used it for the sound accelaration
