*CRASH* when I get the "Loading" screen...

Well, I've seen other users having the same problem on various forums and I would like to know what you guys think about it.

My version of HL2 is working properly but the only problem I have is that each time I have the "Loading" screen, it loads and then I hear an error sound and the game crashes. I think it comes from the autosave function because I can read something in the console (which I activated) like Unable to recover gamedir/hl2/SAVE! File is read only but my save folder is NOT read only !

I have to start the game again and load the game when it crashed because the autosave had been made... and it's quite boring :hmph:

Anyone experiencing the same thing here ?

Any suggestions to fix this ? Thanks for your help..

Unable to remove gamedir\hl2\SAVE! is what is written in red in the console, so if some of you have the same problem...

After reading them I think my problem is the one of a lot of people : the famous "memory could not be read" error.
But as far as I know, no way to fix it for the moment...

i think we bought an unfinished game - today i've been an unpaid playtester for steam/valve/sierra whoever they call themselves, and i'm beginning to resent it - i'm thinking it might be best to stop now - maybe dust this one off in about 9 months, when they've finally patched it properly?... ... ...

That's right... it's disappointing from Valve/Steam/Sierra, as you mentionned above. I read this thread on the STEAM forum http://www.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=176441
And all they can say is that there is no real solution, everybody is still waiting for Valve to fix it...
