Creationist "museum": Dinosaurs and humans coexisted

PETERSBURG, Kentucky (Reuters) - Ken Ham's sprawling creation museum isn't even open yet, but an expansion is already underway in the state-of-the art lobby, where grunting dinosaurs and animatronic humans coexist in a Biblical paradise

The $27 million project, which also includes a planetarium, a special-effects theater, nature trails and a small lake, is privately funded by people who believe the Bible's first book, Genesis, is literally true.

For them, a museum showing Christian schoolchildren and skeptics alike how the earth, animals, dinosaurs and humans were created in a six-day period about 6,000 years ago -- not over millions of years, as evolutionary science says -- is long overdue.

In December 1991 Creation (magazine) reported, Arlton C. Murray "excavated a dinosaur for Liberty University’s museum," which proclaimed "this dinosaur was the first of its kind in any creationist museum."

On October 23, 2006, Richard Dawkins spoke at Randolph College where he was told that Liberty has on display dinosaur fossils dated a few thousand years old to correspond to young Earth creationism. Dawkins said this is not a "trival error," which is off factor of millions and was mathematically analogous to believing the distance between New York and California is only 28 feet. Regarding the fossils, "If it's really true, that the museum at Liberty University has dinosaur fossils which are labelled as being 3000 years old, then that is an educational disgrace. It is debauching the whole idea of a university, and I would strongly encourage any members of Liberty University who may be here... to leave and go to a proper university."

Currently, the school is looking for biology teachers with "a young-earth creationist philosophy." Furthermore, the school asserts "there is now mounting evidence that man and dinosaurs did indeed live on earth at the same time" and claims "the chances are good" that there were dinosaurs (dragons) on board Noah's Ark.

I say we destroy it by filling it with Bibles, and then setting the Bibles on fire.
 
I say we destroy it by breeding dinosaurs and letting them loose in the museum, then say to them "Hey you're right. Dinosaurs and humans can coexist."

I think the release dinosaurs into the museum was much better.

This is the lecture where he says it. He reads extracts from his book for about 30-40 mins (?????) and then opens things up for a Q&A. A load of fundies from Liberty University crash the party, and he owns them all. Its a beautiful thing to behold, especially when he gets fed up and starts being really condescending.

I agree. Teh 6 days of creation are based from the vantage point of the beginning of time, ie quark confinement, no matter/no time/seperate from all the earth based days thereafter. It's interesting to know that approximately 15 billion years have passed, according to the decrease in frequency/increase in wavelength/redshift according to the CBR/heat signature discovered by scientists (the universe at the moment of creation was originally 10 to the 120th power hotter than it is now):bounce:

Seriously, this is less funny when you live where this sort of thing is common.
