The tripod critter in the episode 2 preview video can be seen in game by spawning a 'ministrider'.

'npc_create npc_ministrider' in console.

It's not fully animated and the texture doesn't seem quite complete yet, either... But, it's pretty cool to stare at as it shoots you with its invisible guns...

I still don't understand how it could be for a skybox..

Pre-release, people thought that it would be used for a normal strider in the distance via skybox. If there was supposed to be a strider in the distance, one way to do so is to make a very small scale model and place it in the skybox...

Not a bad theory, however, wrong.

Doesn't it appear somewhere in chapter 2? That's what the strategy guide said(but it didn't tell anything about it, only that it's an unknown enemy that might not even be part of the combine)

...hey! maybe it's part of that third power that g-man's losing gordon to. doubt it, plus i haven't even played Ep 1 yet so i'll have to see it for myself.

I'm pretty sure this thing appears briefly during Ep 1, you can see it attacking some rebels during Mossman's video.

Yup, and it seems that its appearance is in-engine, hence the creature being spawnable in game.

Is it me of did Ep2 look INSANE good GFX wise...

i am also stunned, today i woke up and played EP1 straight through without a break, when i went outside for the first time i noticed that My-Life: Episode One also has HDR with a realistic skybox......it was an insane feeling.

Did the ministriders remind anybody else of chimps or gorillas when they were running through the forest in the teaser for Episode 2?

I thought they looked like 3-legged chickens...

Pretty cool, the way they move.

Yeah surprisingly. Also, anyone noticed how they look quite similar to houndeyes?

Oh noes houndeye robots! Maybe the combine captured some and replicated them :p
