So, I have a target gift card I have not used from X-mas.

I really want a game, and at the moment, I really don't give a shit about story/depth right now. I just want to.... walk around and kill people in fun ways.

Would you recomend Crysis, or Clear Sky? Or absolutely neither?

I have never played Crysis, but it actually looks fun for what it is (remember, as I said, I am not looking for an in depth game, just one where I can sneak around and kill)
But I also really enjoyed the first STALKER.

yeah, and it's taking 5 hours to DL. I want to buy a game today

I had much more fun with Crysis than Clear Sky. Clear Sky is horribly broken and even with the vast amounts of patches it still sucks.

Anyone who voted for Crysis should die. Where're your standarts, people?

What have you got agasint Crysis? I admit that everything after the Aliens went downhill. But overall it's a pretty solid FPS.

if you don't really give a shit about story or pacing then go for Crysis
get Warhead as well

Well, simply because you aren't particularly looking for something with a compelling narrative does not mean you have to avoid games with good gameplay -- I don't think Crysis or Clear Sky fall into this category. I kind of had fun with Crysis...I guess you know, it chalks up the brainless category...Clear Sky, like its predecessor, is a clunky and cumbersome game that is about as fun as rubbing your balls over sandpaper (obviously a great setting, though, but I don't think you're buying the game to go on on a guided tour).

So he should pick Clear Sky, then?

Crysis without a doubt, my experience of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a buggy mess, whereas Crysis, even with it's high end requirements, runs nice for me.

I wouldnt suggest getting Clear Sky, I saw alot of good in stalker and played it through a few times, it had alot of issues but the atmosphere and some of the ideas were kinda compelling to me, I found Clear Sky to have basicly got rid of everything I liked about the first game, and included some poor repeating Command Point aspects that felt out of place to me.

As for Crysis, it has some pretty graphics and some quite impressive system hogging enviroments, but the story is essentialy halo, good guys arrive in mysterious place, fight over it for a bit with the bad guys, then both get their asses kicked by more powerful ancient race. The early levels provide some good open ended gameplay with a few options of stealth vs assault, but ultimately the game slips into the halo mold of juggling a machine gun and shotgun for the whole second half.

Those are just my personal opinions though, lol.

Crysis (but get it on disc cos its not got the install limits, the steam version does)

Clear Sky is inferior to the original and still a buggy disgrace. Whereas crysis while not revolutuionary like everyone hyped it up to be is still a good action game.

I would recommend warhead too (but it does have install limits so keep that in mind)

I'd say Clear Sky, but I only started enjoying it after 3 full days of modding and tweaking (only to enhance the game, not changing pointless things). I have a modpack that makes it super easy to install, but it's 250mb (99% of which are textures). Changelog: (anyone who's played the game will probably know why I made most of these changes)
MOD - Realistic Weapons and Ballistics by Tw33kR (V1.01)
** undid the tweak that made the shotgun and SMG go into the pistol slot
MOD - SHARPER textures
MOD - realistic flashlight by Tw33kr
** tweaked flashlight range and arc size
** dropped brightness of the flashlight down to 14%
MOD - Float32 (dx10 only)
MOD - weight mod (150kg)
MOD - improved sound effects v1.3
** decreased ambient sound volume by 10db
MOD - Ultimate Weapon Collection v1.0
** Only the real weapon names and shotgun textures
tweak weapon - (widescreen 16:10) fixed alignment on all iron sights (perfectly centered now, pistols too)
tweak weapon - increased piercing of slug and dart shotgun ammo
tweak weather - lightningbolts are shorter and occur 5 times less often
tweak AI - less likely to throw a grenade
tweak AI - less likely to see you at night
tweak AI - less likely to hear you sneaking
tweak AI - decreased collision box size (you bump into them from a closer range)
tweak - removed the 'chance' of hitting. a hit now has a 100% chance of actually hitting (instead of 30% on normal difficulty) : major effect on gameplay

I've played the Crysis demo ages ago. Wasn't too impressed, but it's far from bad.

I voted neither but if you really want one go for Crysis. It's fun for a while but luckily the game is so short you don't get too tired of it before the end.

stalker looks cooler imo, ive always thought the crytek games were a little gimmicky.

They are coming out with the Crysis Maximum edition in march. Wait for that, great games! Clear Sky wasn't as good as Stalker in my opinion but still a must have when you get the extra cash.

If you want a game, get Crysis. If you want a gaming experience, get Clear Sky. Don't expect great endings from either though.

Crysis ending is irrelevant seeing as it has a sequel out.

I decided on Crysis, and yes, I am having quite a bit of fun for now. It's gimmicky for sure, but it's kind of what I was wanting ATM.

It feels like an enjoyable Far Cry 2 because you have gimmicky super powers and not the annoying respawning of enemies at camps...

Feels like being Predator.

Crysis, for 2 reasons -

It'll give you a few hours of awesome fun. Even after the novelty wears off, it's a fun game to play when you're bored.

It's the best game to show off your rig when you have friends over. But then gamers don't have friends..

For pure shootin' stuff enjoyment, Crysis. The suit variables make it much more enjoyable. I actually find Clear Sky to be a 'funner' game. You still get to shoot stuff, but there so much more that will get in the way (storyline, character development, exploration, etc.)

I liked Clear Sky a lot more, had a nice Sims side to it that I enjoyed...when it wasn't bugging out.

Read the thread buttmonkeys, he already got Crysis.

ZT, the upside now is you're 1 step closer to getting S-CS :E

This whole thread is blasphemous and must be cleansed.
Thunderhawks, strike with attack pattern purification!

Short game.

Crysis from beginning to the level of Paradise Lost was a lot of fun. After that the last levels were terrible.

Haven't played Clear Sky but S.T.A.L.K.E.R.>>>Crysis
