crysis going to 360??

I wouldnt mind it being scaled back as long as it would run smoothly. I have yet to find a computer that can run Crysis well in all the people I know.

They initially said that they couldn't release on the consoles due to the hardware not being adequate. If they nerf the graphics, the game kinda loses its sparkle, won't it?

true but crytek will actually get money this way :O

just through in some achievements, exclusive maps, DLC and live support and you've got a winner :P

They would also pretty much have to removed all Cry-Engine editing capabilities. That and the probable removal of a lot of graphics effects may mean that it'll become "just another shooter" for the console.

It will still look darn good on either system, though not as good as Very High settings on a top-o-the-line PC.

Incidentally, they just announced officially that Far Cry 2 is coming to the 360 and PS3.

I can run it on high settings at 1440 x 900, no problems, never drops below a noticeable frame rate.

Also, how many units did Crysis end up selling?

Yeah, I just heard about that. I really hope this doesnt mean they are scaling down the PC version just so consoles can play it too, cause it was looking absolutely GORGEOUS.

Agreed. Same I think I hope doesn't eventually happen with Dragon Age (by Bioware).

so the only reason people like crysis is for the graphics?

I'd buy it. I'd much rather put in the 40 quid for it then spending bucket loads on a good PC to play it. Play it for a week, have some fun with the A.I. and combat, trade it in.

I feel sorry for the people that did spend bucket loads on a new PC for it, though.

I don't. That new PC should help them play Dragon Age and Far Cry 2 and all of the other great PC games coming out in the relatively near future.

Well, niether interest me enough to pay a lot of money towards either, so my point still stands. :P

Yeah, I can't think of anything else I am really looking forward to that might tax a system, so I guess we have no more to discuss.

Well personally, I like great physics in a game, which is in some way connected to crysis' graphical settings. The gameplay is fun enough, but adding ways for me to completely annihilate anything in my way without having to purchase extra hardware adds a notch in my books.

Don't forget some of us are training to be developers, so you can't just pigeonhole everyone who spends their wages on a PC. I'd much rather save my money for a cracking PC than a console, for obvious reasons. That and in my opinion there's more fun to be had messing around in editors than being restricted to what you are given.

Upgrading your rig purely for one game in itself is quite silly, I think most people who made 'Crysis rigs' were just using it as a general term and benchmark.

The game still looks damn fine in DX9 mode as these screen shots go to prove and since both the PS3 and Xbox 360 are DX9 based machines its not the graphics that's the limiting factor but the lack of memory that both consoles have. The PS3 has 256 MB of XDR main memory and 256 MB of GDDR3 gfx memory and the 360 has 10mb of EDRAM for the gfx and 512mb memory in total. Contrast that to the 2Gb of main memory for the recommended specs to run Crysis aswell as the 256mb or 512mb of GDDR memory on the average card needed to run the massive and hugely memory intensive object filled environments in the PC version.

My PC has similar specs, but its not enough to run at high, or even medium at a high resolution.

I doubt Crysis will make it to consoles. The game would end up being severely cripled. They would have to severely reduce the number of physics objects for the sake of RAM usage.

I've found that Cryengine2 Sandbox alone justified my upgrade. The editor is so damn awesome, not to mention powerful.

My god, 88000 is a terrible number. I pity Crytek. Hopefully, people will use their engine and they might get some cash that way.

How can you pity Crytek for exclusively developing a game for the PC market? the figures are bound to be low for that very reason.

They are pushing the technology to the max whilst making a good game at the same time, that to me is more important than sales figures.

True. The more kick-ass engines in the market the better!! Carmack can't do it on his own!! I just hope the new engine actually gets used in a bunch of games....

If the 360 can't run Crysis, then how do they expect to run Alan Wake on it? Have you seen the tech demos for that?

Srsly. The tech demos were on a quad-core dual SLIed 8800s (I think) and it was gorgeous. I think they did say specifically that A.Wake would run exactly the same on the 360 as it does on the PC though, so I am extremely excited for that. Especially since we have been watching Twin Peaks for the last few days and I am getting so excited to experience something akin to that in a videogame!!!

Ha, awesome! I just watched the entirety of Twin Peaks (including the follow-up movie) for the first time, and it was fantastic.

Count me in the group that finds it EXTREMELY stupid to develop and release a PC game so advanced that only a select few can play it at the desired settings. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Enjoy your sales of 88K. Lol. I would love to know the dev costs on this game as well as future lisencing plans for this engine....and I do mean future as this engine is probably a year or two away from a mainstream cost-effective audience. Who would want to use this engine right now?

Also dont't think this makes it to the 360 or PS3.

Maybe not dumb, but questionable - you have to think they knew what they were getting into. It could be a sleeper hit, sell better down the track when more people can actually play it. That, or they're gonna kick themselves for passing on Far Cry 2 when it outsells Crysis three-fold.

I think part of the goal of crysis is to provide a tech demo for the cry engine ..I mean crysis will be used as a benchmark tool for years to come so will always be in the spotlight ..also the cryengine may not run great on today's hardware that's not to say it wont on tommorrows hardware

No, the Intel tech demo was on a quad core running at 3.7 GHz and a single 7900 GTX. 8800s weren't out back then.

Thanks for the update! Wasn't sure about the precise details but man was it beautiful and on such old hardware to boot! :P

EDIT: EA has denied this Crysis 360 thing btw.

i dont even use my pc for games anymore. its for video and image editing. if crysis came out on 360, i would be very pleased, and im sure loads of other people would too. i couldent care less if the graphics are slightly less, the'll still be good, and as long as i can actually play it ill be a happy bunny. wolf.

Just read the post above. Damn. ;(
