back of the box confirms online activation is necessary so we can assume the game PROBABLY has limits on it (including steam) and considering EA and crytek have deliberately kept there mouth shut might add to this (not to hurt their sales perhaps?)

There wouldn't be limits on steam other than the ones already present on steam. Steam is Valve's domain, and to publish games on Steam, you would have to follow Valve's policy.

Install anywhere, play anywhere; Only you can play on one machine at any given time, on one account

Whatever who cares. This is getting old.

No this is bad, warhead is said to have a good multiplayer so cracking it is a no-go.

Crytech keep bitching about piracy and then enact measures that alienate hardcore gamers, which, with the specs requirments of theire games, must be their target audience. Genius!

Im sure this wasnt Cryteks choice. But seriously i have NEVER had a problem with DRM. So i think people are overreacting.

Well, I think he just means it doesnt really affect the "honest" player.

It affects the honest player more from what I remember. Dishonest players find ways around this stuff pretty fast :|
^beat me to it!

I hope Crytek quits EA. I read on a DevBlog a long time ago that Crytek had to rush Crysis towards end because of EA pestering them to release the game by the end of the year. Their sales weren't exactly fantastic, and they had to release a patch 3 months later to solve game issues. Now, EA puts DRM on their game, and this is one of those "major league" games not to have a Console foothold to back them up with extra revenue.

Not really, I play Crysis Multiplayer with my friend online, and he has a cracked version. I bought the game mind you.

Admittedly I have heard the new MP is alot better.

It's not an issue for me with this game, it's a single player game, no need for multiple accounts for someone else to play it and seeing as how I'm not interested i multi I couldn't give a feck about Crysis Wars, although I'm sure you'll be able to change your username if someone else in the family wants to play.

Haha you're funny. A lot of DRM will refuse to run on my machine because I have multiple DVD drives, alcohol 120% installed, Daemon Tools, Blindwrite, etc.

DRM DOES NOT WORK!

Online activations, limited installs, games tied to an account. It only exists to destroy the 2nd hand game market. Say what you will about Steam but at least steam WORKS! Yeah Crysis will be on Steam but they're doing the exact same thing 2K did and throwing Securom in for shits and giggles. Steam has it's own DRM it doesn't need this extra shit added on. Bloody hell.

THIS IS WHY PC GAMING IS DYING.

this is not a valid point ..only because you say that since it hasnt happened to you it must be overblown

also warhead is much less reliant on top of the line hardware to get it running respectfully ..in fact EA built a cheap pc to prove that point and developed around it

I'm glad they have online activation ..the amount of people who pirated crysis (within our community) is appalling ..especially since those people were the most vocal in criticising the game

I could be wrong, im just saying i havnt noticed anything, and that it SEEMS people are overreacting.

Yeah I don't see what the huge deal is. I bought Spore and it works fine just like any other game. I don't plan on installing it 5 times on the same machine either.

As for the Amazon reviews, I don't think you should be able to bash the game unless you have actually played it.

Sure, but DRM is part of the product and thus it's fair to bash the product on those grounds.

Sure it works now. Give EA a few years to realise they can save money by dropping the activation servers after the mandatory support term ends.

They are product reviews, the product includes an invasive DRM that many people are having problems with from another game and same company. They are letting people know of the limitations this product has.

Fair enough I'd say.

You know my opinion: DRM is good only if it doesn't harm my system and if it does not interfere with my gaming experience.
As for not being able to play in the future, come on, this is not a valid argument: EA servers down? Activation removed with a patch. The contrary is purely illogical.
Not that I like SecuROM and activation limits, but I am trying to keep the argument balanced.

In Bioshocks case, the Limited Install part of the DRM was removed.

The reason people get so heated about this, is it doesnt stop piracy at all, the cracked versions of these games appear just as early as they always did, the only people who run into restrictions are paying customers.

Exactly, Crysis Warhead is no different.

Why? After x years they have no obligation at all to support the product and that includes removing the DRM after they shut the system down. Then they release a new product Crysis the oldies collection "now without drm".

I respect your opinion, but I think that releasing a patch to remove the DRM when the activation servers are down is the most logical thing to do, I am not worried about that. Do you really think that Bioware, Maxis and Crytek would leave their products in an unplayable status? I really doubt it. See Bioshock.
