CS hangs on server connect

Is there any reason at all why suddenly for no reason whatsoever, my CS:Source hangs when connecting to a server? It will get about 75% of the way and then hang for infinity. I cannot window key out, I cannot Ctrl, Alt, Del out, I can't do squat! WTF is this and what the **** is causing it for no reason at all!

I was having this too, however, my PC would just restart...

I never figured out what was wrong.

Push Alt + Tab. You should return to desktop if your pc hasnt frozen.

Well fortunately I was right by figuring it was an issue with Steam and not my computer which I feared it was at first. I logged out of steam and logged in again, this time I got some memory error message that was annoying. So then I restarted my computer, and that didn't work either. So then I shutdown, did a scandisk check on startup, removed all windows apps from loading at start via Msconfig and finally the server loaded properly.

This is not the first time this has happened but I didn't have to go to such extremes before to get it to work. Its my belief that the bug has something to do with the steam news window because I have only ran into this problem on occations where steam either updated something or I had the steam news window pop up prior. I'm thinking Steam accidentally leaves a system process running in the background sometimes when it runs the news window and thus causes servers to stop loading.

Either way its annoying but I got it to work.

its just a guess but I think your system might have been running with too little free ram when you started one of your games. Whenever I'm to low on availabl ram when i try to satrt a game I will get to the main menu and then it will quit out to the desktop. Maybe your computer takes it further and restarts for you. Again just a guess.
