I know that only occurs when the resolution is too high for the monitor to display. I was playing the beta yesterday and the day before, and it was just fine, havnt fiddle with any resolution setting's,, but when i started it up today the monitor decided it didnt like it :hmph: .

so is this a problem with steam? If i could atleast see the main menu I could change the resolution, if its defaulted to something stupidly high for some reason.

any suggestion's?... worth reporting?

I have same problem, my monitor says:

Attention
Out of range
h165.4KHz V:239.4Hz

hmm, I dont think it's our fault then,, probably just a glitch , but id still like to understand why... and how to sort it out if we can.

I can get it on if i change the res in my registry to somthing totally totally high, well above what my card can even support rofl

it comes onto the menu, barely even able to see it so tiny... finally find my way round to the resoultion bit and change it to 1024x768 ... and it just goes back to the montir being out of range.. i try 800x600 and it does the same...

What is your Refresh Rate in Windows? (Display Propeties->Settings->Advanced->Monitor Tab)

You can also try to run the game in windowed mode by adding -window the the desktop shortcut until you find a fix.

an easier way would be to change the launch settings, and just add the line:

-gl -width 800 -height 600

but you'd have to remove it afterwards otherwise CS:S would start up at that res each time.
