CS:S Configurator.

Ta for that. Looks pretty cool. I've downloaded it and am about to test it out now....

IMO, that thing is so useless... it's just the lazy way out to tweak your game without actually knowing what you're doing...
Read this GREAT tweak guide for hl2/source:

This read is worth your time and will help you execute some essential tweaks to improve gameplay :)

Uuuh... I that's actually the entire point of this program. If I were you I'd read the whole post before diving in like that.

Good work. It makes my CSS run like a puppy on speed!

Exactly the point. It's for people who don't know what they are doing or aren't comfortable enough to tweak their game their selves.

I think its a great idea.

i'm temped to test it but if i use it in a cfg file they i don't want and delete it will keep the settings from the cfg anyway right?

Why do people constantly change setting when they don't know what they're doing? Once again... so insult me because its IMO (btw I’m not flaming either the author of this program or this topic) that people should take 20 minutes and read that article I posted because it is a great resource and will make you feel much more comfortable with the changes you're making. The program and that guide do essentially the same thing and each has its own strength. The program has the element of speed while the guide is very in-depth and offers MANY more options that you can change so that they are right for you. Also, while reading a guide it is much easier to determine what you are changing. For example, if you change a command and you get an undesired effect, you can quickly change it back. With a program, this is impossible because each command is executed at once and there is no description of each command that you are executing.

Also sir:
If I were you I'd read the whole post before diving in like that.
Don't assume I’m expressing my opinion without taking time to research and develop ideas. I've tried 2 separate tweak programs for HL2 like this one and I still prefer a comprehensive guide over the "quick fix." I realize my first post on this was very crude and possibly rude and I apologize for that. Hopefully this clears things up for everyone.

Yeah, sorry about that. Have you got links for the other HL2 optimising programs, so we could compare them and find out which is the most comprehensive of them, to offer people who aren't willing to learn the fine art of tweaking the best possible results?

Cool, this will come in good use to many! :D

I downloaded this utility and it did nothing for me. I was disappointed because I thought it looked like it would help. It does say they have more bugs to work out in it. So maybe the newer version might work for me.

I won't even bother looking for the other program I had found. It seemed unprofessional and the program posted here does everything and much more than the other program I mentioned. ;)
