CS:S crashing on game start

Since a few days back my CS:S doesn't start anymore, it crashes every time I try to start it. HL2 works however.
I've tried to reinstall CS:S, I even unistalled Steam completely and then installed it again. No change.
I just can't remember doing anything special.. and everything else seems to work.. it's just CS:S that won't start

Any clues?

it happens sometimes when a value in your operating system changes against the Hl2.exe file.

buttom line: try to uninstall everything, HL2 steam all source games, clean the registry of your Windows, if this didn't help,

then try to reintall windows (this will fix any errors). I know its painfull, it took me 7 hours just to install XP + application + games.



don't forget to clean the registry of you machine before trying to install the game again, try using Registry Mechanic + TuneUpXp + Crap Cleaner

they will do the job 95%,

Thanks for the reply, yeah, I'll try cleaning the registry... if that doesn't work.. reinstall of windows
