CS:S, CS2 and HL:S, HL2 differences?

I didnt want to create a new thread for this question but I found no answers in others threads so here my newbie question: what is the differences between Counter-Strike: Source and Counter-Strike 2. Also, what is the differences between Half-life: Source and Half-lfe 2? What does the "Source" mean? Thanks for helping a nub out.

Source is the game engine that hl2 will be released on and the difference between hl source and hl2 is that hl:s will simply be the old game ported to the new engine, whereas hl2 will be an entirely new game on the source engine. Ditto for cs:s and cs2
