When I am running through a map on CS: S my game will start to lag and have sort of a tugging effect as I run forward. I am sure this is not lag because I have experianced this with very low ping. It is almost as if when I walk I am being pulled back every time I move forward so as I move forward I move back a step then forward then back a step. Any help would be greatly appretiated.

I noticed this with the recent patch. Happens on every map, usually when there are more than 4 players present.

In one extreme circumstance I was pinging a server at about 9 latency yet it was stop go animation all the way. They've really messed something up in the last update.

Yes thats exactly what it is. I also experiance this in mods too so its all around not just in CS: S. Would anyone know a fix to this or will it need to be patched out?

Xune what is your videocard brand/type? I think it could be a reason. Or the type of drivers.

try typing cl_smooth 0. Could have overwritten it a bit after the update.

I'm running an ATi 9700 non-pro, and 4.10 Omega drivers. Been silky smooth uptil now.

The problem only started after the latest update. Nothing else on my system has changed.

EDIT: Tried changing cl_smooth to 0 and everything seems to be fine now.

I use cl_smooth and I still get it. It is less but still happens.

I don't know if things are back to normal but they are certainly a hell of a lot better than they were.

I guess another update will set things straight.

I've had this problem too. It always seems to happen with you are running with group of people, you like bounce off them and it often slows you down.

d/l & install newest drivers for your graphic card... I've had no promblems after the update
give me some machine specs

Type "net_graph 3" in console. If you have choke and/or loss at a higher value than zero, then I'm afraid it's lag, even though your ping may be fine.

I've experienced this too...even with a ping of about 30. It's like my forward and back keys were temporarily reversed.

I get a tugging, sort of jerky movement. really bad earlier, although i had good ping. I'll try the cl_smooth thing.. annoying bug though.

I can pretty much confirm that game play, for myself atleast, has returned to normal once changing cl_smooth to 0. For somereason the default it 1, so make the change to your CS cfg file and then make it read only to prevent you from having to type it into the console every time you start up CS.

I should also mention that the defusal bug (where the bar momentarily fills and then goes back to normal) still remains unchanged by this fix.

I dont think I have noticed this problem, however I am running with interp and interpolate on 0, so I have little (none?) of the guess work being done by those cvars. Also I have made a cfg file with all my changes in, and made the config.cfg read-only, so if it changed any values here it couldnt on my rig.

These are probably the changes that caused this issue:

Fixed lag compensation invalidating bone cache for players moved back in time.

Fixed lag compensation interpolation error between 2 ticks

ive noticed this too... its really pissing me off sometimes, i just escape around a corner, to notice that i didnt go around the corner, but was just standing. ARGH! also i have a 0.5 mbp/s conn so i have good ping...

I have a 3MB connection and I still get that.
And I play at servers that are, like, 30 miles away.

finally some answers on this very annoying problem..........
maybe it will be fixed in another update........
