Hey guys, here's my latest CS:S movie, a little over 3 mins long. I just finished recording this afternoon. I'm using the video to show my PlanetSide outfit (PcP) how great it is, in hopes that they'll buy over Steam soon and join me in CS:S.

http://www.planetsidemovies.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=949

Thanks for checking it out, and feel free to let me know what you think. I recommend saving the video to a drive and viewing it at 200%, as it's fairly small.

Really NICE !

keep'em up, i'm showing this to collegues at work so they can get motivated to join in s well.
And keep owning these noobs, i saw a few in there...lol

I'm thinking about making a machinima movie with CS:S. I've got the script and storyboards ready.

Edit/cut right after the kills, too many scenes where you just reload. Otherwise it's good.

I'm downloading now. Let's hope it's worth the bandwith usage ;)

I love how you own those guys in the face and in the back. At some points you could have done more patiently, though.

The weapon sounds sound fantastic compared to cs 1.6. This movie lifted my hype even higher.

Kewl - looks good, I could feel the adrenaline start rushing through my vains already (even though I'm stuck at work for 2 more hours).

The movie decides to crash on my computer. I can't start it with any application.. Maybe I need to find a new codec pack .. What Codec pack do you guys use ??

Cool movie. I want the game now =[

You can have the game now :D That's the beauty of Steam. Go for it, man, CS:S is sooo much fun and you can have it in a few minutes, free with HL2. Unless you don't have broadband, I'd highly recommend it.

I'm not sure why you're having trouble. I don't have any codec packs installed right now, but the WMP 9 that comes with XP seems to be able to play it just fine. One suggestion is to navigate to the WMP folder (Program Files -> Windows Media Player) and run mplayer2. See if you can play the video with that.

haha, I bet it will be a fun movie, but your server is slow. I'm downloading at 28kb/s. (Oh my god, I didn't think I would become such a broadband whore. I'm downloading at the speed my MODEM used to run at!)
Good work, I'll update when it's finished. 10% done :)

The server is based here in the US and serves as a major host for all kinds of PlanetSide movies (I think they have some 800 movies now). I tested the server myself before posting the thread and was getting about 310k/sec. Anyway, I wish there was a mirror closer to you so you could get a better speed, but thanks a lot for downloading it anyway. Enjoy :D

Update: Yeah, it's cool. lots of running about and killing people :).

Download this if you like people being killed lots of times over by guns :)

Edit: To unmarkedOne. Sorry, I forgot they were based in the US. I should have been more considerate. Anyway it doesn't matter, 28kb/s is far more than I used to get, so I'm happy :)

wow its soo cool :D i like the way u can go on a killin spree with 1hp LOL

yea it pwns. wot u use for ur recordin, fraps?

Thanks unreal :) I wasn't sure anyone would notice the 1hp scene. The part where I get shot down to 1hp and the part where I kill the two guys with 1hp are obviously the same scene, but there was a lot of unnecessary running around between the two parts so I cut all that out.

As far as recording, I hook my digital video camera up to my 9800pro with an S-video cable and can record directly to DV tape (about an hour and a half of footage without swapping out tapes, which was plenty for this movie because I recorded the whole thing in about 45 mins).

Once I have the video recorded, I use a firewire cable to capture the video to my harddrive from the camera with a video editing program called Studio 8, and do the rest of the editing/rendering with that software.

hey UnmarkedOne great vid just finished watching it! would you recommend using fraps to make vids? im sort of nub to making movies but I do enjoy doing it. I don’t have a lot of money for good equipment and software all I have is windows movie maker and an unregistered version of fraps any advice for this young padawan?

Your advice will be greatly appreciated

Hey fpsx, thanks for the compliment :D

Fraps is an awesome program. Even the unregistered version can make awesome movies, but I'd recommend buying it at some point to support the author and his hard work. You'll get really low fps while playing and recording, however, so it's nice to use a DV cam if you're able. Lots of video cards have an S-video port, so make sure to check that out if you know anyone who might let you borrow their DV cam.

As far as your software, Fraps will work fine if that's your only option. I recorded a ton of movies in the past with it and it worked great. My best friend also uses Windows Movie Maker and turns out some really nice work. There's nothing in my video that you can't do with it. Best wishes on your future projects, and feel free to post here with more questions if you need additional info.

Hehe, I can tell you didn't need storyboarding for that one.. I'm currently making a movie to earn a project grade in T.V. production and I have a rented out camera from school sitting next to me. Look for it soon!

G.J. , nice kills. I'd like to own you one day :O

Yeah, I suppose there are a few excessive reloads, but most were there for effect. I tried to use a fair number of various weapons and show the reloads for them because they sound and look so great. Again this movie's intent was to show the game off to people who have never seen it before.

Update as of the 16th: The movie worked, I've got some 3-4 buddies who will be buying the game today. They watched the movie, took a look at some screenshots, and headed straight for their credit cards :D

Wow, pitiful.

Aug and Kreig are such noob guns. Only the untalented use them or their scopes. And what's with using the scope when the enemy is 5 feet away!?!? Wow, just bad. :|

All of the frags sucked. All of them looked like they were the standard lucky frags that all noobs get when they run and spray. It was obivious that all the people you killed sucked, so anyone could have killed them. Some one them had their backs turned to you. Killing them was hard.

Oh I didn't see it that way, I thought it was just a simple "ownage" video. Nevermind then, I have no complaints then :)

Erm, is this a joke ?

There wasn't a single good frag and it was the worst quality I've seen in a fragmovie.

i thought it the quality was pretty good plus you have to downgrade the fps a little when you convert the file so everyone can view the vid.. also killing 2 enemies with 1health is not that easy..

I think ZERO's e-penis just grew...

nice vid, some nice kills on there

i was watching very closely for hitbox issues such as killing someone from shooting behind them etc ......... a lot of those kills have the other person moving slowly or not at all so those were no help ..... BUT there were 2-3 kills in there where the other guy was in full motion and I noticed no hitbox issues at all (if its not obvious, i don't have CS:S yet im waiting for retail and the hitbox issue is really scaring me since i haven't experienced it obviously)

3 things

Great movie, some good frags there, some not so good :p

Oh and I was dissapointed that there was no frag grenade kills :( they are hands down the most satisfying

Please increase the resolution of the movie, its far too small and maybe use a better codec

And what is the name of that song in the movie? :p

It's pretty easy when the opponents play like three-yearolds.
