CS:S Multiplayer problem

Hi

I got HL2 and CS:2 about four days ago and I can't play them online. When I search for the server it finds about 180 and then freezes. Then I click "Quick Refresh" and it shows me that none of 180 aren't responding. When I try to connect to a server it loads for about 3 bars and then freezes. I am not sure what to do. Please help. I use steam and I also use a router.

Thank You

What are your computer specs ? Also the ports could be blocked on your router, not entirely sure though.

Re:

Here are my system specs:
CPU: Intel P4 3.8
RAM: 2 GB
ETHERNET: Netgear Gigabit PCI Adapter (GA311)
ROUTER: Netgear CG814WG v2
ISP: Road Runner (Cable)
FIREWALL: Outpost (I disabled it but had the same problem)
ANTI-VIRUS: Kaspersky
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 (Up to date)

Ports are not blocked.
It's weird because it used to be ok before... and I haven't changed anything.

Re:

I just did it and nothing happend... both reached 100% and then the window closed... :hmph:
Whats it supposed to do anyways?

Re:

Just did it and it didn't help... It's weird because server browser always finds around 200 servers and then starts to move very slowly... finds like 2 servers per a minute. Like I can make a connection with the server for few seconds and then the connection closes.

I used to have that problem, but in a lesser degree. It only did it after I played one game, and it basically would give me a real slurred list or none at all. Basically I virus scanned, defragged.. all the regular, and it became okay. I also got programs for network tunning, have no idea what was wrong.

I got a new modem/router BAM it goes fine now!!

Can't be my modem (cable gateway) because I used to play Counter Strike 1.6 on this camputer and I haven't made any changes after that. ;(

Hi there,
You can trry downloading TASE - The All Seeing Eye.
It finds servers on it's own.
Maybe you could connect from its.

And one more thing - When you first opened the game (CS:S), did a window of the Windows-Firewall appeared?
If yes - did you press "Unblock" (or is it "Don't Block"?) ?

Windows firewall is disabled because it's useless (firewall settings seem to be ok but I still get this problem when I disabled my firewall).
