CS:S offline?

I bought Half Life 2 about 4 weeks ago, and it came with cs:s.

i then installed it (with steam), and managed to activate half life 2 offline mode.
but i can't get counter strike source to work in offline mode. it says that it needs an update, and has aquired 98% of the update. so i connected it to the net, and it logs in, does the update, then i can play it. but my modem is a 28.8 k oldie, and i have to drag wires from the phone line to my computer to connect.

once i disconnect from the net, it says again that it needs the update, and remains with 98% aquired.

is there any way that i can play it offline???

any help would really be appreciated

It might be a problem with the updating sequence itself. Maybe it displays a message saying it's ready when infact it isn't. Maybe you'll have to wait longer for it to update. Have you tried deleting the clientregistry.blob file and restarted steam? (The file is located in the steam-folder) This updates steam, and MIGHT fix the problem. (read: Might :| ) Otherwise I can't help you, sorry.

Firewall its to do with your firewall , mine done it too , close your firewall open the program and reopen your firewalla and allow it to go thru.... ta DA!
