CS:S over Lan

Is is possible to play CS:S over a lan? How do you do it? There isn't any lan option in the menu. I was thinking of installing HL2 to a different folder than the steam one but I'm not sure... BTW, I only have one copy of HL2. Thanks.

Firstly, you need 2 copies.

I haven't done it myself, but i imagine that as there is no specific lan option, you use one of the computers to host a game, then join the game through the find servers menu on the other computer, either by finding thename you called it or if you know the ip you can connect to any server with a specific ip address.

You just click Create Server and choose the map and all that good stuff on one computer. It automatically makes a LAN game. The other players then go to Find Servers and click the LAN tab. Easy as that!

yup, he's right ! once you've gone into find servers, along with favourites etc...

Whew, i was having troble logging in, so I couldn't reply for a while (for some reason norton internet security + firefox = can't login!). Thanks for helping me past my stupidity, I can't believe I didn't see the tab!
