if you have a fx5200 and css, then please explain to me how it works for you. And PLEASE show me some screenshots of how it looks on your best running settings, and tell me what those settings are and your fps.

GOD, I MUST KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and if i get ne posts saying "buy a 9800" "buy this" "buy that", ill kill you. I have pci, and thas how it'll stay.

it will only work in DX8.1 or DX8 mode, but it runs 60FPS easily at half settings or thereabouts.

you wouldn't be so stubborn to keep PCI if you were interested in eye candy, anyway.

....not stubborn, I'm smart....I dont feel like buying a new comp or mobo just to get agp slots, wtf do u think i'm willing to throw away $$$.

You cant expect it to look like much if youre insistent on sticking with your fx5200, although CS Source looks great anyway. You'll have to upgrade sometime (sooner than later) if you expect to play games in the near future. Not alot of games are going to have the scalability of Half Life 2. It should run fine for now though most likely on medium settings, or lower if youre expecting to up the resolution above 1024*768

5200 isn't the greatest card, but it gets the jobd one.

I play in 800x600 on about medium settings, (No AA / AF), and get anywhere from 30-60 depending on what's going on.

5200 AGP 8x = meh

5200 PCI = the extra money for a mobo is worth the cash

However if you really are tight for money it will be an ok card. However what are the rest of your specs?

i dont like the 5200, at all, but im stuk w/ it and i accept that. In the future future i will upgrade, but not near future. And hl2 may be my last big pc game for a while, I'm goin back to ps2 for a while (gt4, deception, killzone, ect)

I guess your fine. Just as long as you don't expect any eye candy or anything.

I want SOME eyecandy, like nice water and things that are noticable

You can't expect to get alot of eyecandy stuff with a 2.5 celeron and a PCI Geforce 5200... My friend has a PCI Radeon 9200 and CS 1.6 is barely playable (no AA or AF obviously). If you want to get a decent framerate you have to lower the quality.

cs 1.6......u must be mistaken, i thought that card is the same as mine, and my pc runs cs 1.6 like a friggin joke (a good joke)!

:| I dunno, but I've seen GeForce 2's on 2.0 Celeron's pull like 70 FPS, 680 480 resolution, everything on low, everything on performance in CS. I dunno, about a GeForce FX 5200 with Half Life 2, maybe GeForce 2 on CS = GeForce FX 5200 with Half Life 2?

Dude i have seen the Fx5200 run it displays water and everything in the stress test fine, the guy i know that uses one only has 256mb ram and he got 27fps in the stress test everything high.
