CS:S Release-for the players or to scew VUG

Why do you think Valve is releasing CS:S before HL2 has gone gold?

I think it's because CS:S isn't part of the contract with VUG so they are releasing it early and tying it to the HL2 sales. That way, when HL2 goes gold, Valve already has a ton of sales guaranteed through Steam. Quite a few people who were planning to buy the VUG boxed version will probably choose Steam now just to get CS:S.

Wow. Not only is Valve screwing VUG thru steam, they are pouring salt on the wound by making more people buy HL2 on steam just so they can have cs:s early.
