Hello,

No this isn't another "Will my pc run CSS" but I'm puzzled about something.

These are my specs:
AMD 2500+
768MB DDR333
Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB

Now, when I run the stress test, with all the settings set at "Recommended for your system" I can't get anything higher than 52 fps average (the final score). However, someone else whom I know, has got a 9600XT and he gets 72 fps as the final score and he also runs the things at the same settings.

It also doesn't matter which settings I use, it always ends up with either 52 or 60 or so. It sucks! Also during gameplay, I can't get anything higher than 30-60 fps.

How come someone else with a worse videocard than mine, gets a higher score? Could it be the CPU? I suppose a 2500+ is enough, isn't it? My RAM is fast enough too, 333Mhz with 2.5ns.

Does anyone know what could be wrong, why am I getting less fps than anyone else with a worse system?

Thanks!

the 9800 pro isnt nessaserally more powerfull then the 9600XT

Try a fresh reboot and disable all auto-startups you may have background programs eating your memory. And defrag/clean up your pc, it always helps.

And by the way I don't know what gfx settings you're using but 30-60fps sounds just about right for your system ;)

I've already done a clean install, everything is optimized.

Could it really be the CPU then? I thought a 2500+ would be more than enough.

Drivers? Cat 4.9's? Have you installed you AGP/Motherboard drivers? It doesn't really sound too bad for your system anyway. I get about 40-100 fps with my system. Wide fps range.

I get around 80 FPS in the stress test...Oh, and the 9600XT IS worse than the 9800 Pro. Erm..What CPU does your friend have? Have you tried overclocking your CPU/Video card?

Make sure:
-anti virus is disabled
-you have the latest genuine ATI drivers (not the omega-drivers, they half your FPS)

I've got a P4 3ghz-HT 800mhz 512DDR with a 9800pro 128mb as well, and I get 75-82fps. With omega drivers I get only around 45fps. Or maybe it's the CPU?

I have the same card as you but with a 2.8 Ghz P4 Processor and a gig of 3200 RAM.

I Run it on 1280 x 1024, highest settings, Trilliniar and 2 x AA. I get 75 fps at the start of a round and about 40 once i get into the thick of the action...

I'm hoping they will make the fps a bit more steady for the retail release.

euhm dunno if it runs without shocking its fine to me i suppose :p

Well probably its your cpu 1.2 is low en 2.4 gig is recommend

i got a 2800+ and a 9600 pro and detail on high it runs smooth with me :)

I don't know what's wrong with yours, but I'm running the Omega 8.07 beta drivers, and the game actually runs a lot better. Are you sure you got the omega drivers for ATi?

Also, he said he has a 2500+. That means it'll be equivelent to a Pentium 4 2.5 GHz..

Hmmm, guess I'm not the only one with the problem. Maybe I should try the Omega drivers...

These are my specs:
pentium 2.4g
512MB DDR
Radeon 9800 xt 256MB

and i get 36fps in the stress test. whatsup with that? I must be doing something completely wrong. any suggestions.

Sorry m8, I was talking to Wiegje because the 128 bit 9800 Pros are slower than the 256's.

v-sync is enabled. if i can get 107fps in the VST, you can get 74 or so.

50-65 sound ok, if you are using catalyst 4.9
trying getting the beta ATI 8.07 driver...should add some performance for ya.
