CS:S without HL2?

Is it possible to run/install CS:S without Half-Life 2 on your system?

My brother wants HL2 gone now that I've finished it, so I just want CS:S on the system.

Not able to select 'not-install' for HL2 when installing through CD.

But how come you can obtain the files off Steam without even having Half-Life 2? I thought they'd make it more obvious if you couldn't.

I went ahead with unloading HL2, CS:S works fine without it.

Is there anyway to set it up so i dont need the cd for cs:s?
