i'm having trouble with css; in the audio options it is set to 4 speakers, but when i try to switch it to headphone (or anything else for that matter) it just automatically switches it back to 4 speakers. even if i do it in console it switches it back; whenever i change it this comes out of console:
DS:quad speaker configuration detected
3d surround sound initialization successful
and then its back to 4 speakers.
i'm currently running vista and using an audigy2 zs; the reason it detects 4 speakers is that i currently have both my 2.1 speakers and my headphones plugged in and have the sound card driver software set to 4.1 speakers + force stereo sound so that i can use whichever one i feel like without needing to unplug/replug stuff. source automatically detects what it thinks is a 4 speaker setup and sets the audio setting to 4 speakers whenever i try to change away from it though. this messes up my in-game sound, since the game thinks my speakers are the front two and my headphones are the rear two, but they're forced to stereo by the sound card drivers. using the test audio thing, i figured out that with my speakers (which are plugged into the main speaker slot), the front left/right sounds are correct but the rear left comes out of the right speaker and the rear right comes out of the left speaker. with my headphones, the rear left/right are correct but front left comes from the right and front right comes from the left.
is there a way to make cs stop automatically detecting and changing the audio settings back to 4 speakers?
