It dawned on me 30mins into download CS source here at home that could i infact write the CS Source folder at uni onto a CD then copy it off at home..?

Anyone tried this?

actually I think you can transfer over the GCF with no problems at all - I don't see why that wouldn't work, whats the difference of d/ling the GCF opposed to placing it there.

Yah it works.

Cool cool.

Supose thats an advantage to buying Halflife2 through steam. It would then give you two options once you final got it downloaded. You could back it up to CD / DVD or just download it.

Not sure if it was clarified if you could download halflife2 if you baught the DVD. Which to be honest isnt as stupid as it sounds, I mean how often have you forgot to bring a game you want to show your mate to their house. Cool if you could just download it :)

What i wanna know is if you buy HL2 retail is it all installed into steam all as a GCF or do you have to convert like CS:CZ. Hmmmm...

And look! We all joined in July 2003. What a month eh? :p

I think if you buy it retail it'll just get its own directory like any normal game.
Some people don't care for online play and simply want to play the SP game, steam is not designed for that.

:O Your right ... i'm a July guy too :p

If that is the case that'll mean spending time converting if you wanted to play MP (Provided there is one of course :O) . I s'pose that'll be an advantage of pre-loading and purchasing through steam.
