Hi,

I'm having a few problems with CS:S, can anyone help? I've only tested these in an empty server I make.

1. The knife leaves no decals on anything. Say, if I knife the wall, it dosen't leave a knife-mark. Bullet decals work fine and look great though...

2. I can't see sprays. I can see them in the options to select which one to use, but if I try to spray one on the wall, I hear the spraying sound, but I can't see the spray. I haven't tried this with a custom spray, don't know if those would work.

3. Probably the worst, the flashbang visual effect never wears off. Meaning if I see a flashbang, my screen stays white forever.

Thanks for any help.

No one can help me? Well, it is safe to try to delete either the CSS folder or maybe the gcf to see if it might fix something?

You could try setting mp_decals and r_decals to higher values, as for the flashbang bug I really don't know :|

Nope, those didn't work. I set mp_decals to 400 and r_decals to 3000 and I still can't see sprays or knife-marks. I deleted the CSS folder, but it didn't fix anything.

Okay, I know this isn't really helpful but you could try the www.steampowered.com forums. I'm sure someone has the same problem as you, good luck

I still don't know what it was, but I decided to delete my gcf and redownload and it fixed all three problems! My internet was being dodgy and disconnecting alot the first time I downloaded it... Well, whatever it was, I can enjoy CS:S now!

I have the same problem (not sure about the flash bangs though).

I'll give it a go

Hmmm, well now I don't actually think it was the gcf. When I went to test if it worked after the gcf redownload, I forgot to set the max number of players to 1 instead of 32. So I try it again just now with max players set to 1 and thats what causes the problems. I didn't notice it before because I haven't tried an online server yet (this is the first CS I have played and I wanted to get used to the maps). So, I can still just play in an empty server, I just set the player number to 2 and put a password on it. So you might not have needed to redownload the gcf JimmehH, if you were doing the same thing I was.
