Hey guys, I wanted to poll a sample of you to see what's your opinion on CStrike. I myself am a big fan, ever since my older brother introduced me to the mod in the summer of 1999, the mod had been released only a couple of months ago in March. Everything had a half-lifey feel to it: the guns, the models, the maps... I was instantly hooked but when I went back home I had only a 33k and I was living far far away from the civilized world. Next year summer 2000, I returned to Paris to live with my bro and he had a 512k dsl connection which was a technological leap of unknown proportions to me. Ironically my brother didn't play CS at all, so I reinstalled the mod and started fragging. It's been 3 years now: I've bought my own cpu and I still can't stop playing it. Hehe

Anyway enough about me, I want to have a discussion with you all: see what you like about CS, and what you don't like. No flame war, no one-comment opinions such as "CS sux" or "Awp sucks" or "g4y" this and "f4g" that. I know there are many mature CS players out there.

You obviously know by now that I'm a CS fan, or fanboy, or junkie or whatever. But I'd like to discuss why a lot of gamers don't like the mod at all.

I'd like to ask you: "what are the reasons you prefer DoD over CS?"

Is it because teamplay is better enforced in DoD? or is because the world war II setting appeals to you? post reasons as well

counter strike is the greatest i think because its the most popular. ive played it since beta 1, but i dont play it anymore. the game just doesnt have much depth for me anymore. still, a mod like tfc stays interesting after all these years. i think i find that tfc is the best HL mod, but cs is the "greatest".

Hm... I dont think I can vote with any of that... I think its WAS one of the best mods ever... But I was still young then :dork:
I jumped to DoD then, due to the fact it featured MUCH better teamplay on the average server. Then I jumped to BF1942 since it had vehicles that added another element of tactics. Now I'm making my own mod that will enforce teamplay with squad morale and the inability to complete a round without a certain class (or actually two, both the scout since he can carry home the enemy commander and the support since he can resurrect the friendly commander).

So for me it WAS one of the best mods ever, now its not very good.

i think it is.....it has to be, to be this populair....not saying it isnt shit after 3 years of totalt waste..but hey, it's still very nicely done.....

I downloaded Beta 1 the day it came out!

That was great. The CT's looked almost like T's and FF was usually on. So you can guess what that means. And glass camping in cs_seige .. that was amazing.

Yeah I still like it actually. It's one of those things you can play over and over and over and you'll never get bored.

CS was a good game, i jus dont play it anymore. I used to play alot of the vehicle maps, cause i thought that was pretty cool, i even made a few maps wit vehicles, jus cause i was fasinated with the idea of vehicles in an fps game, and then bf1942 came out. now i play desert combat, and have all but deleted my cs.

Hey Demon you should try the BF Interstate 1982 mod, it's really good.

well im only guesstimating here since i don't fall into the "CS haters" category.. (i have been playing CS since the very first beta days.. on and off just FYI) but anyway, it might have alot to do with all the cheating that has been running rampant in CS.. obviously theres cheating in every game at some level..

but i guess cheating in CS has gone to a level which has turned off some/alot of pple.. this is my guess.

i would like to say tho, that its not the game's fault that theres cheaters in it.. the game didn't magically create the cheaters.. so maybe some of this hate is misplaced.

I am playing it again, and have been since Beta 2 or somewhere around there. I love it! A lot of people shit on the community but I really don't find it that bad. I haven't seen many cheaters or racists in my 2 years, but I have seen some idiots. That's about it.

BTW if you like CS then go to www.ghostopsmod.com. It's going to be like CS (the aiming / recoil / accuracy / some gameplay stuff) but with amazing models and maps (some of the best CS modellers and skinners contributed to this mod. People like LoneWolf) but the objectives are going to be more complex. Like for instance, you spawn outside of a complex and infiltrate it via the vent system. That'd be one objective, and the next would be to hack into some computer that operates a door, and once you complete that you hafta set C4 to blow up an area of the complex and then get out.

Also, you will be able to plant the C4 on walls, so it could be used as a attack, as well as blowing the entrance to a side door. Sadly their weapon renders aren't showing up so I can't show you those but they look spectacular!

No, I don't like it. Havnt played it for a year or so either, when the swarm of newbs started playing I left.

I prefer to play Enemy Territory now.
