CSS Crashes to Desktop Online only (??)

Hi all...
New to this site so forgive any redundance in this... My CSS is crashing to desk top when I go online. Its at random times from 3 - 15 mins into the game. All servers, all maps.. but only when I play online.... If I play local I'm fine.

This is on a new hard drive, fresh XP install... used MSCONFIG to only run bare bones apps... have check for virus's and spyware, system is clean...

Athlon runing at 2200
9800 pro 128 mg video
1 gig ram (512 x2 matched)
abit board
platronics sp500 headset

:( I need trigger time dang it! give a soldier some help!
 
This used to happen to me a lot when I first got my pc, turned out all I needed to do was windows update! (A lot of stuff to download but its basically full of fixes for things like this among other apps.)
 
I have all my updates... went through all my services and am running on bare bones... have current drivers... :'(
 
I believe I have solved the issue... after swapping out the video and still having issues.. I swapped memory sticks and it worked fine... then only put in one of the sticks back in and it worked fine.. put the other stick back in and it started having all sorts of problems again...

hopefully this will help others...
memory can go bad... especially in pairs and you might not know it under normal loads...
