My PC does run DirectX9,

But...whenever I start up CSS and look under mat_dxlevel it keeps saying I'm running under DirectX 8...

I changed it to mat_Dxlevel 90, quit the game and loaded it back up again and still it runs under dx9 :S

So, I made a .cfg file and made it run automatically when the game loads up and it makes it run under dx9. Great, but it keeps reseting the video settings, so everytime I start up CSS I have to keep changing everything to low quality.

This is annoying especially when I join a game from Xfire as it takes forever to connect to the server...

So my question is, how do I stop CSS from changing my video settings everytime I run it to high (which it "thinks" is recommended)?

you obviously have a dx8 card. so there's no point in forcing the game to dx9.

having directx 9 installed and having a dx9 capable card are 2 different things.

No probs. I got it working. Had to use the advanced launch commands ;)

(I do have a DirectX9 card, how else would it of worked before? -_- )

i have a ti4400 which is dx81. i can force it to dx9, too. guess what? doesn't do anything because it's a not a dx9 card.

if it's a dx8 card it's going to look like dx8, regardless if you run it in dx9.

IT IS A DIRECTX9 CARD!

It's a 9600XT if you should know -_-

Sorry to be a bit, well, you know. But, are you using the latest catalyst drivers from ATI? If yes, have you "changed" anything about your computer?
