CSS, HL2 Eat my memory!

when i play css and HL2 all my memory gets eaten!
i have 1024ddr is there anyway to stop it eating all my memory?

hl2 almost requires 1 gig of memory to run good

I think theres some type of memory leak in Steam, cause if you leave it on for a few hours, it really starts to hog your memory.

Change the heapsize to half your memory about? So in your case add -heapsize 512000 to the advance start up options. I think that'll fix it.

ahh oki will try that...after i have updated steam becos i formated my comp bcos of damn virues..will this command make it use less memory? and when i play css my CPU fan spins fast..as if it wants to cool it more.

Perhaps you should get a virus scanner so you wouldn't have to reformat when you get a virus.
I think the command will make it use 512mb of your RAM.
And the fan spins faster because your CPU is having to work more thus getting hotter so the fans spin faster to keep it cooler.
And why are you worrying about it using up all your memory, are you running anything in the background?

well.

well i do have a anti virus "mcAfee security suite 2005"
but...this stupid program called "spyware nuker" thought that mcAfee was a spyware..so it deleted sum files for it. and then it ****ed it up and i had a few viruses on it before..stupid trojans!
and when i get a virus i just wanna format to get rid of it lol.
and programs i run in background would be.

lol, whats wrong with having your PC working to hard. If you have a super system, run it to its potential, unless you are having stability problems because of over heating, which you haven't mentioned. Then there is nothing wrong with flexing your PC's muscles lol

You can't really stop your CPU working hard, it just has to do more when loading a game so the fans go to cool it down, Is there a problem with the loudness of the fans?
A good virus scanner is NOD32 perhaps when your subscription with McAfee runs out look into NOD32, If you wanna get rid of spyware + Adware get Ad-Aware or spybot.
I personally use NOD32 and Ad-aware and im virus and spyware free.

yes its dam loud LOL thats why i want to stop it..i cant hear cs bcos of the hover in my pc

If it's loud it could mean it is good, my CPU fan is quite loud but my CPU idles at about 35-40. Although the loudness can be quite anoying when i leave my PC on all night and im trying to get to sleep.

after about 1hr of play my fan will go off for about 1/2 min
and i cant hear anything!! lol its annoying
