This is the final sdk release of de_rats. Pics in a sec.

All bugs are squashed and the map is in perfect form.
*I lowered the fog amount in fridge, Gave the doors noise. I couldnt get sound on button to work but now you can see through the water so you know if you turned it on.
*I opened up the stove now.
*Elevator is fixed and works all the time.
*Skybox added.
*Fixed all the compile errors.

This is a port of the de_rats map from CS1.6, but instead of just taking the old map and decompiling it
and going from there I built everything by hand. Here is a rundown of the updates:
*The window actually has an outside thanks to 3d skyboxes.
*The fridge recieved upgrades of snowy and displacement mapped ground.
*The Water is updated to CSS standards.
*All objects are physicsable meaning lots of different interesting kills
*Clock can be shot off the wall and smash you.
*Added more sponges to the sponge tub to allow for fights on there.
*Updated the bug spray with new source effects.
*Oven uses new source heat wave effects and is now accessible in the oven. (It requires a master jumper, and will hurt you to get there)
*Cabinet has been upgraded with new items like a box of nails and a marble trap.

I am sure you will enjoy. I know the pre-sdk people have. Thanks.


HOW TO INSTALL:

Place the folders into your

xxx\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\usernameXXX\counter-strike source\cstrike\

The materials folder contains the necessary material files.

The maps folder contains the de_rats.bsp

LOL I am that much of a dork that I went to amazon and looked up the ISBN number on the war of worlds book and indeed it finds it. haha nice touch
 
nice texture work. love it. looks a little dark. doesn't feel like the original :D but then i dont have source yet so i cant play it and tell you.

Yeah thats how all the screenshots come out. No matter what your brightness is set up at, it still takes screenshots really really dark. Good work and remake. I made it into the oven first try. There needs to be a little ladder on top of the stove so you can run along the top of it where the dials would be, I keep getting burned. The window skybox is great as well good job......
 
youve really gone to town with the details! excelent! altough, the sparks from the gas thing or whatever dosnt have a sound, and it just seems wierd.
 
The elevator still doesn't seem to work correctly (it's jerk-o-vision), and there's still a bit too much fog in the CT spawn :)
But apart from that it's great! VALVe need to tune the physics a bit tho :(

Ok there is some kind of issue with it running on linux servers.

I will be getting a fix done for linux people. It shouldnt cause you to have to redownload though.
 
The mouse trap should really do more damage... like 50% health damage a swipe

also if the ceiling fan went a little slower, then make another entrance in the wall that goes through the ceiling and empies out on top of the ceiling fan and if you wanted could ride on the blades :-P

Absolutely great my friend. Very nice work indeed, I'm going to love playing this. Had some great memories on this map a few years ago.
 
If you jump into the yellow box so that it falls on the floor with you in it, it will land on top of you and you can walk around with it as a protective shell! :p
 
Excellent! Shall have to test that next time ... wish the elevator worked better tho :(
 
I am still working on fixing it to work in linux.

That is why no servers yet.
