CSS won't connect to servers. weird.

When running CSS, it'll take me about 15 tries to join a server. On the failed attempts, the server info box comes up, and the ping rockets from the pinged value (sub 100 usually), up to 2 seconds.

When I do join a server it's fine, pings under 100msecs.

I'm running a 2800XP, 512Mb RAM, Hercules 9800se softmodded to 9800pro, MSI mobo. I'm connecting via a static IP ADSL router with the settings "stealthed", so it requires my computer to initiate the port daemon.

sometimes when things like this happen, the best idea is to reinstall CS:S. I can't help you further than that.

Same thing with me. All servers will lag out when info box comes up, though very occasionaly I'll get into one. Same with HL2DM.
I have no idea what it is...
