css wont start up

hey, im not sure if this has bin posted, but every time i click the CSS icon, it displays the preparing to launch counter strike, but after that, nothing. im gettin pretty frustrated at the moment, and i already had to reload everything on my computer the last time something like this happened, and i dont really wanna do that again... please help

Possibilities:

1.) A firewall might be blocking the hl2.exe and the game cannot inicialize

2.) A firewall might be blocking an update and the game cannot inicalize.

3.) Your game might be "broken", try reinstalling.

4.) Slow internet connection therefore the game takes a long time to connect to the steam server.

These are just some 5 minute thoghts. Try disabling your firewall. If that dosen't work, post your system specs, I might be able to help you out more.

i havent got any firewalls... i dont think, and my internet is fine, ive let it go for like 2 hours, and ive tried reinstalling... please someone help me!

i have a simular problem;

i havent played ant steam games lately (about 6 days now) and i decide to play css again but i wait for steam to update and then it says i have to install counter stirke source?

but whats funny is i dont have enough space to install it, and the size of the file is says has to be downlaoded or installed is not that of hl2. which is weird.

i dont know what happened, but any feedback is greatly appreciated.

yeah i just presseed the icon for the sake and i had to install, it took about a milisecond, and i dont think it actualy did anything

how about going to servers thru steam, double clicking on one, it should launch the game from there. or is it same situation where it just hangs at the preparing to play c-s little window?

I had the same problem with css not starting but i upgraded my graphix drivers and BAM it goes.

you mean like updating it or totally gettin a new one? i dont really want to be gettin a new one if you dont need to lol

Nah just the drivers for ur videocard.
