In the Prima guide it says something along the lines of "He (Cubbage) is far to young to have been a Bengal Lancer or to have served with Rudyard Kipling", now i am not to sure of my history but this would probably been in the 1870`s, this however would be irrellevant to a person with a contact "The G man " who appears to be able to time travel and is possibly a mercenary contractor , comments any body

I think the point is he's a fake Brit who's adopted the persona of an old-style military man. And he steals his mannerisms and exploits from old Kipling. But I like to think he's genuine because that's more fun and he's the best character in the game.

I have to admit I was slightly disappointed to not hear him scream something about Zulus. ;)

I vote for a Cubbage Expansion Extravaganzaaaa!!!!!!

Yeah... I threw in extravaganza for the heck of it. Maybe he'll get an expansion pack :-P

Whats the big deal with Cubbage anyway? His accent seemed so fake and stupid and he just ticked me off. "Ahh just the person." I was like "WTF I'm GORDON FREEMAN Bitch!" Then I flashed him the west side symbol.

While 'Gordon' was desperately trying to hit something with that stupid rocket launcher (it's the year 3050 and they still don't have decent homing missiles), Cubbage was taking on the entire Combine force single handed. He sends the women and children and wimpy scientists off to safety, and then goes and fixes everything, and he lets you think you had some part in it. He's that kind of man. He's smart, wise, and he has a woman in every town - and not a funny-haired woman with squinty eyes and a silly name either.

Valve are setting him up and Dog as the stars of HL3, they just don't know it yet. HL3: Dog and Cubbage.

Lol, the year 3050? HL1 looked like it was set in the 1950-70s, and all the wrecked cars you see lying about look like they were pre-2000 "old shape" models (no smooth rounded edges, they are all "old" cars by today's real life standards). Especially when you consider that most cars in europe these days are of the new, rounder shapes, I'd still guess that even HL2 is set some time in the past decade, and that all that fancy technology we see comes from alternate dimensions. It wouldn't be a huge stretch of the imagination, especially when you consider that the submachine gun Gordon uses in HL2 is based off a real life model that was only just recently put into production, and that today's missles are already capable of turning corners at street lights and following laser pointers.

I thought it was set in 2120 or something, but I couldn't remember the exact year. Someone will know.

HL1 was in the 90s, hl2 is around 2010 ish

HL2 takes place very early in the 21 century you dumbasses, around 2010 as someone stated above.

Doesn't matter, somewhere post-modern. Can we all agree on that?

Almost everything we know about the Half-Life story apart from what we experience during gameplay is pure speculation, so nothing is really certain... and all he's doing is examining the facts and what they might tell us about the overall story. So unless you have evidence against what he's saying, shut the hell up.

"Sometime in the last decade" is anytime inbetween 1994 and 2004. 2000-2004 is in the 21st century last time I checked.... Moron... Now next time you feel like scraping more smegma off your penis and posting it here as fact, don't.
