Cubemap complications, bah!

I gotta small problem with the cubemaps here, when looking into this room from the cooridor I get flickering walls that go from lighted to dark and the same problem pops up while in the room basically. Ive placed cubemaps, built them and have also assigned and unassigned them to the rooms brushes but the same problem still pops up. Anyone got any tips for me on how to get the lighting and cubemaps to work the way they should?
 
thats not related to cubemaps i think. is that a regular world brush? or have you tried a different texture? i came across a couple textures that did this, and when i switched to another it worked.
 
I think some of the textures that do that are *supposed* to be for models/props and such. I had it happen to me once - just use a different texture.

Oh and the flicker itself may be related to cubemaps - if one is very bright and the other dark then a shiny material which uses it will "flicker" and visibly change to the darker cubemap. Ugly.

On small props like stair railings and such it isn't so bad - and the stairs usually have some lighting so you can't see a major, sudden, contrast change :)
