Cubemaps

So... to get accurate Cubemaps (which i take to be accurate reflections etc on certain textures) I need to use the 'buildcubemaps' command in the engine (which I take to be at the CS Source console) ... but I can't have the game running and do that - so how is it done?

I'm sure it's so stupidly easy that i'll be embarrassed by how simple it is, but i'm stupid anyway.

That's very helpful - how did they mess up?

Is there any way to build cube maps?
 
I Believe he means there is a bug in either the source sdk release or current version of CSS that doesnt handle permissions correctly (or somthing similar) id expect a patch for either this week some time.
 
The reason buildcubemap ain't working is because steam has the file "in use". You can find the original quote on Steampowered, just search for posts for susername "Waldo" or for the word "cubemap".
It's going to be fixed pretty soon I'm sure. Just wait a little, build your map, by the time you're done steam'll update.
 
The other thing is bumpmapping - how to enable this on textures that already support them?
