Are any of you watching this? Its on CNN right now. I only mention it because someone is mentioning it to me.

The pilot is currently dumping fuel out over the ocean.

Best of luck to them.

Yeah. Hopefully noone dies, and it'll just be a routine emergency landing, which they're predicting will be a completely safe landing. Lets hope.

As long as nothing else goes wrong, they should all be fine. Don't get me wrong, it'll be one hell of a rough landing, but thankfully it could be a lot worse.

PLANECRASH LOL!!!

Errr...

I hope everyone makes it out okay. It's hard to train for situations like this, I'm sure.
But best of luck to the pilot.
Hooray for realistic simulators.

Yes. That landing was almost flawless. No damage to the body of the airplane it seems, just the front wheel thing melted out.

Those bastards dare disturb my beloved ocean? RAWR.

But gg on the safe landing.

Paul Moyer is such an idiot. The plane landed and he was like "Oh wait a minute, wait a minute..." like he wanted it to explode.

Anyway, I'm glad they're all safe. That guy's one hell of a pilot.

I work in the Aviation industry, I work on the Avionics part of the aircraft (all the wires), The problem with that aircraft was a hydrolic problem that issued in a service Bulletin at my aircraft shop. Basically an O-ring (which is basically a hydrolic seal that stops hydrolic fluid from going any further than it's supposed to), is not properly set in the wheel shaft hydrolic line. Basically what happened after takeoff is the fluid got to the actuator in the wheel hydrolic line and turned the wheel sideways, now, this is not really a problem because if the wheel is turned sideways it should turn right back when you land the aircraft, however, the pilots decided to try and retract the gear...bad idea. It's basically like trying to retract the gear when the wheels are touching the ground, the plane doesn't let you do it, because of the pressure on the wheels. In this case, the Hydrolic fluid got caught up in the wheel shaft when the pilots tried to retract the gear and the gear got seized, not locked like you heard on CNN.

Basically, now the nose gear is locked into place and will not turn, because of the hydrolic fluid pressing aganist the wheel. So the pilots had no choice but to land the aircraft with the nose gear sideways....you may think that this is a big deal...in reality it's not. No way in hell would an Airbus A320 crash with the nose wheel sideways. I've worked on that aircraft before (not the one on TV since I'm in Canada), and I can tell you that the aircraft is so well built it can withstand almost anything except of course crashing into the ground. The pilots did one hell of a job on landing, keeping the nose wheel up for as long as the could until the plane slowed down. Great flying, I hope those pilots get awards or medals for that because that was amazing. Great ending to a good story.

EDIT: It's a good ending for the pilots and also the company of the airline because of course no loss of life. It's bad because those wheels are damn expensive, and the wheel shaft will have to be replaced, which on that plane costs around, 200,000 dollars. (not including labour)

It could have been worse, as far as monetary damages go. The whole spoke thing could have bent or broken from the impact and the underside of the airplane torn all up.

Nope, it wouldn't have broken. I know what this aircraft do. I've seen it before. Nothing could have sheered it off unless there was a really big rock in the path of the shaft. It's meant to hold up the aircraft, tire or no tire.

I hate when the WHOLE world stops, for one little thing happening, meanwhile there are hundreds of other deaths, hostage situations, and bombings happening, and they all gotta stop for one stupid plane????
My Dad was watching it, I think its RETARDED!

(Yes, I'm A Jerk)

glad everyone was okay and I have to say that was a nice landing, the pilot went straight the down the middle.

that plane cant dump fuel, glad everything went well,It flew over my house right before it landed

No, I said JERK, Not moron, I have an opinion, and that opinion is what intitles me to be a jerk, not a moron.

IN YO FACE!

Heh, I was in a bar 'n' grill called the Chimes when this happened. Buch of drunk/getting drunk people. There was this one asshole shouting out stupid stuff like "Who wants to take bets on how many people die!?!" We all cheered when they landed safely.

I'm not that big of a jerk that I want people to die tho.
Who's THAT big of an asshole?
