With the Source SDK coming out soon, we over at Curse are starting to think about the core details of the game, and with all we are planning to put into this mod, we are looking for more team members! We are currently looking for people for the following positions:

  • Organic Modellers (Players, Monsters, etc.)
  • Environment Modellers
  • Animators
  • Skinners
  • Texture Artists
  • Sound Artists
  • Mappers
  • Coders

If you would like to fill one of these positions, drop by our site and forums (www.cursemod.com) or visit us in IRC in #curse on irc.gamesurge.net!

(Note: to apply, you MUST visit either the site or the IRC channel, or email Henry at [email protected] .)

I like some of your ideas there (especially a stamina system instead of health), but, ever the perfectionist, I have to pick holes in the storyline...

If the atmosphere was equivalent to Jupiter, then the planet itself would have a crushing force of gravity. The people in your mod would be rather short and thick-boned, and have massive internal pressures to stop themselves imploding. So, that makes maneuverability rather difficult - the characters would be rather slow because of their frames. And then, there's the problem of jumping. With a gravity like that, you'd barely be able to walk, let alone leap. And the final problem is sunlight. With an atmosphere that thick, you'd never - ever - see the sun, and it won't glint off a sword.

I think you'd be better off setting it on a Venus-like planet. You get the same cloudy skies, but you also get (to some extent) sunlight. The only problem with that is the fact that Venus is hot enough to melt most metals, so metal swords would be out of the question. And the pressure of the atmosphere is still pretty bad.

*exhales*

Anyways, now I've got the scientist out of me, back on to the mod. Interesting idea, if not a little ambitious - time control in the Source engine could be pretty difficult, and it's a bit of a burden to place on your coders.

Alright, if you want to get technical..

But as for the time control details, that is one of the things that we have been discussing a lot lately. And I do realize the burden it will but on the coders, and seeing as how I *am* one of the coders, that one of the reasons as to why we are looking for more team members.

When you read "atmosphere equivalent to Jupiter", all it really means is that it is a very, very harsh enviroment. Storms are erupting everywhere, volcanos are exploding on a daily basis, and it would be pretty much inhospitable for humans.

And thanks for clearing that up, ssba :)
