I was thinking of upgrading my motherboard to a Giga-byte K8 motherboard, (atm I'm running this comp on a K7). However, I own a X800XT-PE AGP video card and don't yet want to buy another card just for PCI-E.
Does anyone know if the next genearation of video cards will support AGP? I know it's probably doubtful. But I want to be able to upgrade to the next gen of cards whilst using the X800XT-PE until the next gen of video cards arrive.
I've heard that there is a Motherboard that has both AGP and PCI-E slots, would anyone know if it is stable or not?
Also I heard that Albatron has released an PCI-E to AGP card adapter. Is the X800XT-PE supported by it? I've also heard that the Albatron card can decrease the card's performance by 10%, does anyone know if that's true?
I guess my main question is, can anyone think of a solution whereby I can upgrade my MoBo and CPU whilst using my AGP card and be able to upgrade my video card in the future?
Thanks.
