Cursed PCI-E?

I was thinking of upgrading my motherboard to a Giga-byte K8 motherboard, (atm I'm running this comp on a K7). However, I own a X800XT-PE AGP video card and don't yet want to buy another card just for PCI-E.

Does anyone know if the next genearation of video cards will support AGP? I know it's probably doubtful. But I want to be able to upgrade to the next gen of cards whilst using the X800XT-PE until the next gen of video cards arrive.

I've heard that there is a Motherboard that has both AGP and PCI-E slots, would anyone know if it is stable or not?

Also I heard that Albatron has released an PCI-E to AGP card adapter. Is the X800XT-PE supported by it? I've also heard that the Albatron card can decrease the card's performance by 10%, does anyone know if that's true?

I guess my main question is, can anyone think of a solution whereby I can upgrade my MoBo and CPU whilst using my AGP card and be able to upgrade my video card in the future?

Thanks.

No one knows just yet.

It's stable. From what I remember it was for Intel systems though. Also the AGP was not exactly the AGP you know now. It was a half-assed AGP implementation but it would let you use your card. The idea was for temporary use of an AGP card. You can't exactly have a full speed AGP and PCI-Express on the same board.

I'm not sure.

None that are perfect. You mentioned 2 though, the only 2 that I have heard of.

Either go all out or wait on the upgrades are probably the best options. Also I have not had the best experience with Gigabyte motherboards.

Oh ok, what do you suggest then? Asus or MSI?
You're asking a guy called Asus on whether you should get Asus or MSI?

LOL Jelly

MSI line of Neo is quite good too.
so you will stick with your K7 ?

I have an MSI board in my current machine. Asus in another. Both are awesome. =p
