The most probable reason for this is that humans have a strong affection for animals due to their behavior and appearance that is often related to the same innocent behavior and physical traits that human children have.

Therefor, more women take part in zoology and animal care due to their natural instinct and desire for child rearing.

One time my father and I were at the primate area of the zoo and he started making monkey noises, ooh-ooh ah-ah and such. All the monkeys started going ape-shit (pun intended) and throwing themselves at the wall just to try and kill us, tear us limb from limb, and most likely throw feces at our dead bodies.
