d3 and x800

for some reason, it wont let me play at ultra and 1280x1024, or at high, it always says i should run it at 640x400

Ignore it, the X800 pro is fully capable of running high settings with high resolutions. My friend's X800 pro 3.0ghzC runs it perfectly at 1280x1024 high, his monitor doesn't support 1600x1200. I don't know about Ultra settings though, the 6800 Ultra can only run 1024x768 I think on Ultra settings.

but thats the thing, i tell it to run at 1280x1024 at any setting, ultra/high, and when i restart it goes striaght back to 640x400, when i change it back to 1280x1024, it still sits at 640x400

Well that's definitely not right. Those are the recommended settings, but if you choose your own it shouldn't keep resetting. Do you mean you have to change the settings everytime you start it up or when you choose 1280x1024 it just stays at 648x480? What kind of x800 is it? My guess is it's your drivers, try downloading the latest drivers from ati.com.

well.... change your settings and remember to apply them. Also when you shut down doom3 make your you do it correctly. If you just ctrl + alt + delete it you will lose saved settings normally.

NOTE: I think the doom3 splash stays standard 640 x 480 all the time.

i do apply them, and i ave the 4.9's, this problem also started a the last week i had my 9800pro, i think d3's being a dick about m having ati cards

Wow that is weird and you even have the 4.9's, I have no idea. Reinstall the game. Only thing that will work I think. Sounds like something just got screwed up.
