Now, before you run away and dismiss this as just another show about lawyers, bear in mind that the series steers away from usual legal drama formulas, where storylines are set inside the courtroom and instead describes the characters' lives and interactions outside the courtrooms and the behind-the-scenes power maneuvering and manipulation... not to mention that cases last entire seasons and filled with insane twists and turns.
The two major characters are all you really need to know.
Patricia "Patty" Hewes
Being described as "ruthless", "master manipulator" and "brilliant", Patty is a high-stakes litigator managing her own law firm called Hewes & Associates. Conceived as "woman who commands power and influence in a male-dominated world".
Ellen Parsons
A bright and sharp law school graduate determined to do good in the world, Parsons has overcome her working-class background to become the new protégée of legal bigshot Patty Hewes. But it's a complicated relationship–not only because Patty demands much of her, but also because Patty is manipulating her for her own reasons... to what end? Find out in the show.
Now, there are of course other characters you'll see on that show such as fiances, family members, and other lawyers at the firm but these two are the real stars of the show.
As the series progresses you'll also see many familiar faces such as Ted Danson, William Hurt, Marcia Gay Harden, Martin Short, Lily Tomlin, John Goodman, Željko Ivanek, Timothy Olyphant, Campbell Scott, and Dylan Baker.
Now for the miscellaneous information.
As you can see, it's already airing and it's certainly off to a great start imo.Damages has received critical acclaim and numerous television awards, including a Golden Globe and several Emmys. On July 19, 2010 it was announced that DirecTV had picked up Damages for two more seasons, to consist of 10 episodes each, to air on their Audience Network.[SUP][1][/SUP] Season 4 of Damages is set to premiere in July 13th 2011 on DirecTV.
And the main problem it has right now... is that NO ONE is watching the damn show.
So, if you have DirecTV then tune in for the love of God... but first you should probably get the first 3 seasons and watch that shit.
