Well, like a lot of people. I blew the pigeon achievement by failing to keep close enough tabs on what I was killing. I've started a half-assed second sweep through Liberty City to see if I can determine which of the little buggers I neglected, but one thing has given me pause. Shortly after I killed the 198th pigeon (the last one I killed) I heard what sounded like one of GTA4's topical radio reports about something that had happened in the game.

In the report, the announcer was saying that someone had finally found a solution to the pigeon infestation that had been plaguing the city...or something to that effect. And yet, my pigeon count stands at only 198. Mais comment?

Seriously, the whole pigeon ordeal very nearly made me hate what is, all in all, a great game.

I did the Gnome achievement in Episode 2. Now I hate playing it.

Don't do achievements... I can't imagine trying the Antlion grub one, or the pigeon one.

**** the pigeon thing. It's busy work, I hate it. What is the point of including something that's goddamn impossible to do without a guide (or at least inconceivably improbable) and is basically a matter of systematically going through a spreadsheet checking off pigeons killed. And there's not even a significant reward for it. Seriously, **** that, if I'm going to do work I'd rather be paid for it.

The packages went downhill starting with San Andreas. That really sucked ... and the rewards were also shitty (though not so bad as GTAIV). It was actually fun to look for and find the packages in GTA3, VC, LCS, and VCS and the rewards for doing so were significant enough (and incremental enough) to make it worthwhile. VCS even mixed it up a bit with the 99 red balloons which, in addition to being clever, also made you think about finding them differently. But SA and IV just ****ing sucked in terms of packages.

As for your problem ... unless you wanna go back through the list then you're probably ****ed. Or it's a glitch and you're ****ed no matter what. But ... why bother?

Great game though, just hope they improve this aspect for the next one.

GTA3's packages were the only fun ones to get for me. You got fantastic rewards, and they all weren't in totally convoluted places. You could get a decent about just by logical exploration.

Yeah, usually my maxim is "when you play for achievements, the game is playing you."

The GTA games are a bit different though. I got 100% on both GTA 3 and VC, so it's kind of a tradition. But this particular package hunt is just an ordeal.

Actually, I'm enjoying doing the stunt jumps, which are good fun. The pigeons could have been good if there had been fewer of them and they had all been hidden in ingenious places. As it stands, it's just "busy work", as someone said.
