This is good news to say the least. Even though I'm pretty sure the film would of been released regardless, it would of been delayed whilst talks between the other author took place. But now Dan Brown has won the court case, he can still sell the books, and the film can continue on its original release date.
With a $100m (£57m) movie starring Tom Hanks due to be released next month, Mr Brown would have been publicly humiliated by a defeat.

Mr Brown, whose 2003 novel has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide, was defendant Random House's star witness.
He appeared in the witness box at the High Court in London in March to support his UK publisher's defence that the case carried no merit. Michael Baigent and co-author Richard Leigh had claimed that The Da Vinci Code contained ideas taken from their 1982 non-fiction book The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail.

why is every court case in America so ridiculous and doomed to fail

Why don't you name 5-10 court cases?

Oh, you can't?

Right right.

Ok let's see. There's the cat in the oven for one, and numerous others from the Practise. It's based on real life y'know.

Hmm...the cat actually won. But proves my point about ridiculousness.

im glad...though now those people who sued him have to pay him...Also found out the other day that he is the world's most paid author - even more than J.K. Rowling apparently!

I think they did it just to sell more books. I bet they knew they wouldn't win the case, since the claims were too general.

Now their book will be selling way more than it already has.

Just because you do not like him It doesn't mean your assumption is warrented or justified.
He has a great skill in writing novels, with a good sense of rytham, suspense, and incredible skill to draw you in, in on of his stories. He may not write literature that reflects on man's nature or on original and clever insights on variouse stuff. But then again Beethovens music didn ot touch on those matters either like some artist, music writers do, he just wrote mother****ing good music.

What court case? What movie?

whiskey tango foxtrot?

I liked the book, btw. But let us stop harressing each other for their tastes.
