Hello all. I will continue this story from time to time, and I hope you enjoy it.
Location: City 17 Outskirts
The three scanners were hovering close by my hiding spot. I could feel and hear them. I listened to the non-stop humming of the probes and observed the constant flashings of light coming from their camera lens. The leafy green bush that I lay undetected in would not protect me for long. Soon, the scanners would turn in my direction and blow my cover.
I decided to act. I pulled the ironsights of my Springfield rifle close to my eyes and aimed toward the nearest scanner. The probe was floating above a small ant hill, snapping pictures of busy ants carrying out tasks more efficiently than most humans could do. I was amused by this and thought to myself, "Why would the Combine want to study ants?"
I fired a shot at the inquisitive scanner. The bullet quickly seared through it's thinly protected armor and created permanent damage inside it's electronic brain. Flying out of control, the hovering robot crashed into a nearby tree, causing a new scar on the plant.
the remaining Scanners who were busy observing the trees turned around, but it was too late for them. by the time they faced me, I already had my next shot ready. I fired a bullet into the lens of one of the probes and watched it explode.
The last scanner was apparantly panicking. It nervously took a snapshot of me and started to flee from the scene. I knew it was trying to retreat back to Combine headquarters. I could not let this happen. As my prey flew away, I aimed. A last bullet from my gun propelled toward the scanner and destroyed it in a flash.
My name is Yoon Sung and I'm a Combine hunter.
