and if they dont will it big down preformance alot for an AMD 64 system?

None of the compatible CPUs support Dual Channel. Socket 939 and 940 CPUs are dual channel.
The performance is not an issue because it is built into the Performance ratings yet it doesn't always hold true.
E.G.
3400+ 2GHz 1MB L2 cache Single channel
3500+ 2GHz 512KB L2 cache Dual channel
look at D3's performance with:
Single vs Dual and 1MB vs 512KB L2 cache.
and
Overall performance between the 3400+ and 3500+.
1MB over 512KB L2 cache adds almost 4 FPS while Dual channel over Single only adds almost 3 FPS in this case.

Other times the 3500+ is ahead by 100+ worth rating, like it should.

The Athlon 64 2800+-3400+ and 3700+ are all single channel while the 3500+, 3800+, FX53 and the Opterons are Dual channel, by the way.

ok cause i might be getting the Athlon 64 2800 over an AMD 2600 XP, i think it will be worth the extra money even without dual channel memory.

In the long run the AMD 64 would be better to have than the XP, right?

Buying a 754 pin AMD 64 you're not exactly future-proofing yourself, but if that's not an issue, fair enough. I'd buy a 3400+ and a 939/940 mob personally.

Oh, I'd get a gig of Paired Corsairs too.

BTW the Asus NForce 4 motherboard is due soon for AMD64, and that sucker does support Dual Memory and *WILL* be worth the wait.

Edit: http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=300872&cks=PRL

seems this MSI NForce3 mobo is Dual Channel also.

As i am considering an upgrade to A64 out of Mr Calhoun's original listed mobos wich one is the pick of the bunch?? And if not listed any other suggestions?
