I think i may have gotten too involved in the game, i know this because i fell genuinely guilty for killing my fellow brothers and sisters in cheydenal.

i even made a backup save to go back to because i was feeling guiltey even getting the quest, but i finally did it and decided that the new mission pickup style was quite inventive so i'm gonna continue.

in truth ive never felt this guiltey before EVER in or out of the game.........

i might give the game a miss for a day or so

no guilt whatsoever ...in fact I wanted excuses to kill other people not associated with the quests ...

"wha? how dare you say "goodday"? ..stabstabstab"

I'm loving the assassin quests (on quest 2) ...especially the evil part ..once I'm done I'm killing the dark brotherhood vendor ..I hate that guy ..oh and that cute blond girl who greets you every time you arrive ....cute but meh she'll die well enough

Yeah, they were pretty cool... but I still killed em all in their sleep.

Now I'm the highest rank in teh DB...

My older brother's one of those people who gets twangs of guilt when doing bad things in an RPG. I played multiplayer Baldur's Gate with him, as an evil guy, and ten minutes into it, after I'd robbed half a dozen people, he went "No, I can't play this anymore"

Really strange, because he loves ultraviolence.

Yeah i found this extremely wierd cos i normally love stabbing people, it was the fact that they were "nice"...... as far as murderers go

hahaha, same for me

Possibly the first time I have ever felt guilt in a game.

Partly because my only other RPG expirience is really Zelda where you can't kill any nice people.

And in most games when you kill a good person you can just reload the level.

I loved the quest, I also love how they try and make you feel guilty, like everyone has something really nice to say to you, or encourages you to follow Lechance (or whatever the black hand dude's name is) orders to the letter... especially how maarj dar (the vendor) suddenly realizes that he should give you a second chance after proving your stones in the DB... and he sucks up a lot.

hillarious I loved it.

my character however (an assassin) is pretty weak at combat.... I dunno. he just sucks and I can't put my finger on why really.. so I cannot take anyone on directly ( I guess it should be that way, since Im like speed 100 and stealth out the wahzoo)...

************************SPOILER*****************

for this quest I took the poisoned apple given for the quest, and opened the very hard locked barrel on the opposite end of the room, which has 5 poisoned apples in it. and fed it to Ocheeva first, soon the others followed, Vincente doesn't actually eat so I took him down last with my rufio ghost.. he almost beat me senseless though. The male Lizard dude would not eat my apples either..... no matter where I dropped em.. so I waited till he went to sleep, and jacked all his armor and his weapons, and without him equipped I stood a chance.... barely

all in all, great quest, lotta fun no matter how you do it.

I felt kinda sad when the brotherhood ended up **last DB quest spoiler** killing Lucian instead of the traitor

It didnt phase me to much...I just went in there and started whacking people. I summoned the ghost in the training room and killed 3 guys there, killed ocheva in her sleep, and then took out the lizard guy in a sword fight.

oh and dalamari that was a pretty terrible warning for the last DB quest...now its ruined thanks

Well, the thread title itself had a spoiler tag. But yeah, next time a better warning might lessen the irritation of some. Anyway, killing all my fellow brothers wasn't exactly what I had in mind. The DB questline just seemed to be one mistake after another by the Black Hand (if I got the story right). Don't get me wrong the DB questline was more interesting and well-thought out than the MQ.

I as well felt kinda bad having to kill my own bro's. I knew that darkhand fool was playin' me a fool!

I will eventually kill everyone in Cyrodiil.

They were nice...I didn't want to at first..but hey I gotta do what must be done. Who I really felt sorry for was the dude that told us to kill them....such a undeserved death...

No guilt? Not even a little? After all they'd done for you? I mean, they were incredibly generous - the Cheydinhal sanctuary gives you a whole host of valuable weapons and items, not to mention a damn cool hideout and some varied and interesting friends. To turn around and stab them all... doesn't this make you the slightest bit guilty? After all, you swore to uphold the five Tenents, and by completing the "purification" you're essentially breaking all of them... permission or no permission.

This is the Dark Brothergood Sanctuary. I moved it.

It's a memorial. From each of my fallen brothers, I've taken one item. From left to right: Antoinetta's apple - she was always cookign and eating. Gogron's frost axe, well used. Telnaava's short sword of fire. Vincente's longsword. Ocheeva's book she's always reading. Telaendril's arrows - she was an archer. Then there's M'raas-dar's green robe. One item doesn't belong here - the item of the traitor. But, despite some clues, I'll never know who the assasain of assasains really was...

On the bottom left, there's also the Dark Guardian's skull and Skeeva's rat meat. In the middle, there's the Dark Brotherhood clothing - and the Five Tenents to remind me I'll never have to break them again.

Yes you will if you want to complete the DB quest.

Just so you know, you aren't a Dark Brotherhood member after that quest...so the 5 tenents no longer apply

And if you really do want to bother with "following the tenents" well then you will be in for a big shock when you complete the Black Hand quests :)

What was up with the rat Schemer? If you kill it it counts as killing a guild member... is/was it their pet?

The only person I liked was Vamp, because he was a friendly old chap. But I didn't kill him, the town guards did - his body is sprawled across the Cathedral steps! Quite brilliant it was, actually.

Any mob walking around in there is a guard of the sancuary, thusly it counts as a guild member kill.

I liked him too, was my favorite character I have come across. When I went in that room in the lighthouse I was pretty confident he was a goner. I was still a bit shocked when I saw his body like that though. How did this game ever get a teen rating?

I find it funny that the members of the DB are some of the most emotive and generally likeable characters in the game.

So, just how do I use poisened apples anyway.

I couldn't figure it out in the House so I went an killed them all in their sleep o_O

They were murderers too, they didn't care about killing other people (NPCs)...and what? I was supposed to feel bad about taking them out?

Bah. I can't read any more of this thread as I keep accidentally stumpling upon spoilers. I'm pretty sure I know what you have to do at the end, due to reading a post a while ago about carrying a certain person's head in your inventory. It's really annoying. It's like today - I was watching Fight Club for the first time, but thanks to friends, I knew the twist :(
