Dark graphics

Whenever I play HL2, its VERY dark. I have the brightness all the way up (although I still see no lines of text like it says....) and I have powerstrip running also. I use an ati radeon 9600xt and whether I have the brightness turned way up on that or on powerstrip, it almost seems like they get overridden by HL2 when it runs. I had this problem with CS:Source too, but powerstrip works just fine on that. Any suggestions on how to brighten this thing up?

I have that problem with lots of programs.

I discovered, however, I can set hotkeys so that you can adjust gamma, brightness and contrast in games by using the ATI options, though. :smoking:

If your ATI options are the same as mine on a 9800 Pro, then you do this:

Go to your "ATI Display Settings"

Go to "Color" and choose "Full Screen 3D".

Choose "Hotkeys" and set the keys up to use.

Personally, I use these keys:

ALT + F1 - Increase Gamma
ALT + F2 - Decrease Gamma
ALT + F3 - Increase Brightness
ALT + F4 - Decrease Brightness
ALT + 1 - Increase Contrast
ALT + 2 - Decrease Contrast

I can make even Doom 3 look bright with those. :afro:

What about other keys like 1, 2, 3 and so on?

yes i can input them and letters. i have the ati catalyst control centre . the one with the .net has to be installed first
