Dark textures completely black, ok when shine flashlight on it

Hello everyone

I have a problem in Half life 2 (and episode 1 and 2) where dark textures are completely black unless I shine a flashlight on them. Also, dark areas are kind of reddish and purple. Pics attached.

I've tried different video card drivers, even different BIOs! Reinstalled half life 2 (I own all 3 on steam), and I even torrented half life 2 and it still exhibits the same problem.

I'm out of ideas, and was hoping you fine folk could help me out?

I think it looks fine. The super dark tunnel may just be bloom.

It doesn't look that bad to me. But it's hard to tell out of context...

Yup done that.

Another example:

Notice how the dark bits are weird? How, as it fades into black, there are shades of red and green?!
