I don't know what the problem is.

First thoughts? Codecs....nope. I tried so many different combinations of codecs.

Next - video programs. Newest WMP, and many other types, still dark.

I just got a rather large computer upgrade, I used to have a TI 4200 as little as a week ago (wow, I know...but it still ran HL2 / WoW fine, which were the last games I've played until now), and I remember having this problem with that card. Now I have a Geforce 7600 GT.

I rolled back the drivers to version 84.21 and videos started appearing normally again after I updated my drivers. This was even back with my old TI 4200. Now I just had the exact same problem with my new card. I got the newest drivers, and my videos are dark. I just rolled back again, videos are fine now.

I haven't even tried loading a game with these old drivers, hopefully they work fine, because I watch movies and other videos a lot... :(

Anyone had a similiar problem? I don't come around here much, or any forums other than wow.com ones, so this could be a common problem, but I tried videohelp.com and nvidia.com and no luck at all.

Thanks for any help incoming.

edit: I just noticed that new multi-quote button (I haven't posted here in MONTHS). That feature is amazing :O

Go into the Nvidia control thing and go to the section with the colour settings, set it to default or just make sure they're all normal.

I had weird colours one time and somehow those settings changed and others have had the same problem.

Edit: I assume you have the new CP so go to "Videos and Television" than "Adjust video colour settings."

That was my biggest problem. I hate new interfaces, so I just selected to use the old one.

I'm not sure if the problem went away by itself after a re-install, or that Control Panel made a difference. Either way, thanks.

I'm sure if I have the problem in the future that's the fix, the main thing is it's fixed now.

Yeah np, it's really weird and it seems like one of those fixes 'handed down from generation to generation' as my problem I had like > 1 year ago was everything was PURPLE and I posted on here and someone gave me the same answer I gave you.
