After watching the movie i'm convinced the whole zombie theme would make an awesome HL2 mod...combined with awesome weapons (sniper rifles and the HL2 shotgun come to mind) and vehicles (trucks with snowplows)... maybe some co-op an yea...any1 else agree?

:D

I agree. In fact, i agree twice. I'm going the extra mile here, just in case someone else doesn't agree with an awesome mod like that.

Random question: You know the spinny blade thingy in the 2003 videos? You switch it on and it cuts the zombies in half...Well, i was wondering, is it cutting the zombies in half because it is physically spinning so fast, or because it is told, "you are switched on, therefore you cut zombies in half." ya know what i mean? So, if you have any kinda of sharp large fast moving blade (I.E. the sawblades in the '04 video), is the cutting in half scripted, or physically happening? It's just something that has been bugging me for awhile. Sorry if my question doesn't make sense...

And the whole evacuated/run down burning city17 footage i have seen from the E3 previews just seems so fitting....like you'd have to break out from the city...and into the woods and meet up with some other survivors..and then back into towns etc...there is seriously ALOT of potential...i'm hoping something like this happens anyway.

I think there's a lot of potential with that.

One thing I'm really burnt out on is all the WWII mods. We need something new and original and horror always seems to have a place.

Another great movie with that "trapped" feeling is the Evil dead. I know there is a game out there, but a good mod could go a long way.

Or how about a game like Halloween? Serial killer (or monster/slasher movie killer/whatever) on the lose chasing you? Even a crime drama like Se7en has the potential to be a good mod.

Wish I had skill with mod making :P

No More Room In Hell modification is being worked on and loks promising - and it will have pretty much exactly the same plot as a Dawn Of The Dead game. I dont think we need 2 zombie games but i suppose in the interests of competition, rivalry and pressure to deliver a better mod than the other guy thismight be a good idea

:D

good luck, they are another 3 dawn of the dead mods :/

The No More Room In Hell Mod is entirely different than what I am doing. The only similarities are that they both having zombies...

Why dont you go visit the link to my mod above and read the Gameplay concept and story?

Our two different mods are not just a pissing contest, they are each unique projects, and im sure when they both come out there will be no comparison between the two, just 2 really good mods :)

Care to provide links to these 'other' DOTD mods Ichy?

Only DOTD mods I'm aware of are Brisck1's and the NMRIH one. And as he says, both different from each other, Briscks is following the film, the other I think is telling stories elsewhere but in the same setting.

And since NMRIH have apparantly proven their not using the stolen files for their mod. I'm now looking forward to both mods.

I'm going for a slightly different approach: a USS Darkstar/Event horizon style zombie mod set in space where people have killed and reanimated by deamons from another dimension.

A large portion of Cause And Effect revolves around zombie-blasting antics.
It's going to have more than just that though, but DotD, to me, is one of the bigger inspirations, along with 28 Days Later. There are other parts that could reflect parts of The Thing and Silent Hill too.

It's nice to see all the zombies around. :)

hehehe, Dawn of The Dead meets star trek (Borg) should be good :P

If done correctly of course. I would go for the mroe borg aproach.

DAWN OF THE DEAD

When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth.

One of the best movies of all-time, the 1978 version of course. A cult-classic...masterpiece...Romero's best film. If you have not seen this stupendous film, I highly recommend you see this movie ASAP.

If anyone were to make a Dawn of the Dead mod for Half-Life 2, I will be so very happy. Just imagine the mall...the zombies...the gore...the atmosphere...the headshots...the sniping...the graphics...all meddled in to one great mod of Half-Life 2. To whomever feats this great accomplishment, I congratulate you and wish you the best of all luck.

The remake was quite remarkable, but didn't compare the phenomenal and outstanding original; the original stands on its own high grounds.

You'd probably like the mod named 'Dawn of the Dead' then.
They're totally reproducing the entire mall in source, and re-creating the events of the first movie.

SHAUN OF THE DEAD
When there's no more room in hell, lets all go down the pub.

Actualy i think that zombie is cut in half by the barrel explodeing cause if you watch it it happens just as gordan shoots a barrel, and none of the over zombies are cut in half by it

the zombie is cut in half because its built with that in mind. the blades are setup in the right height to give it more of a chance of cutting them in half.

If you wanted you cuold make a model that could lose arms and legs and head and torso depending on how it was attacked.

SP and here's why:
- there are way two many multiplayer mods already
- I can't code
- There's no room for story line

My basic story so far:

A hundred and fifty years ago mankind built the T.S.S Dawntreader (or whatever), an enourmous spaceship packed with cryogenic bays housing 20,000 crew and 100,000 civilians. It took off colonise a distant planet and set up a jump gate so that more people could be sent through. Halfway through the journey all contact was lost. 80 years later the ship is spotted drifting in space at the edge of the solar system and you and a team are sent to find out what happened...

You find that the ship was sabotagued and the crew was woken up. After drifting in space for five years the crew managed to rig the technology of the jump gate to the engines in an attempt to get home. When they tried, however, a portal was opened up into an alternate dimension called Yan (or whatever), etherial in nature. The beings of Yan began to pour through, attacking and possessing the ship, killing lots of the crew and taking over their bodies. During the battle the crew managed to sever the main power relay to the engines (but also life support, killing everyone frozen instantly), the drive and the ship drops back into normal space, not far from our the solar system. With no options left the surviving crew activate the emergency systems and freeze themselves once again hoping someone will come.

When your team arrives you immeadiatly reconnect the power which starts the drive up and opens the portal. Soon you realise what you have unleashed. The emergency systems are running out of power. Hordes of dead civilians are being possesed and are breaking out of theer cryotubes, and the very ship itself is trying to kill you. Now you and your (short lived) team, with help from some of the newly awoken and still shell shocked crew, must destroy the drive or get off the ship before it's sucked into Yan for ever.

Sounds kind of like Event Horizon

You mean you actually expect me to read the threads?

That effect is low level compared to "Painkiller". Your Primary Weapon (first weapon) has 3 revolving blades that cut the undead to peices.

Theres an alt fire that launches the head of the weapon (in a ball shape) out as well which kills most enimies first hit.

It gets really gibby when you hold primary fire so the blades spin then use alt fire so it launches out spinning. I killed 5 undead guys at one period of time.

If you want pics pls ask Painkiller is on my brother's computer. So I'll ask him to take some screenies. Our 3rd disc got scratched badly so I can't install it on my machine.

/edit w00t I just remembered Junes Australian PC Authority has the demo.

lol i know it was the infection of rage that took over the people. no 'night of the living dead' or anything. i just said zombies because they most resemble them. and the fact that they could run (and fast as hell i might add) makes it better than any other "zombie type" movie. period. :D

Sound like a System Shock type game.
